JONATHAN Edwards, the golden boy of Christianity who retired from athletics in 2003, has ditched God. The latest issue of the Freethinker reveals that, “Having left his sport as a dyed-in-the-wool evangelical, Edwards is now, to all intents and purposes, an atheist.”
The news, however, has failed to filter through to The Goal website, devoted to profiling Christian athletes. “The Heart and Soul of the World of Sport”, as it dubs itself, persists in portraying Edwards as an evangelical Christian – despite the fact that the Freethinker alerted The Goal a month ago that Edwards had come to the conclusion that the Bible is “not literal truth but literal falsehood.”

Meanwhile, I suggest that readers contact The Goal at goalkeeper@thegoal.com, and demand that they acknowledge that Edwards has ceased to be delusional, and should no longer be included in their list of Christian athletes.

All I have to say to this is that you deny God and he will deny you from the book of life. Hope you change your mind because its not too late.

I wonder if he really was one to begin with. He was raised by Baptist parents apparently and I think his testimony is that he just sort of drifted into it. I’d always thought that a bit wierd. Maybe it’s just a matter of him maturing that has made a difference….Unlike other Christians who seem to live by “experience”
