God moves in mysterious ways. Now it’s up (or down) the tube. From the people who invented God (i.e. religionists), here’s GodTube. We kid you not.
Never let it be said that The Freethinker is not willing to introduce its blog readers to new and challenging ideas. Take this (cited by a piece on the Boston Herald blog): “Content on the nondenominational network includes video of a little girl reciting Psalm 23 [cool], a senior citizen named Eloise rapping about Jesus [no more excitement, please, I'm having a vapour] and a parody of Sir Mix-a-Lot’s ‘Baby Got Back’ titled ‘Baby’s Got Book’ – a reference to the Bible [quick, the smelling salts, I'm feeling faint and all aquiver with the with exhilaration of it all!].”
“Baby’s Got Book” a reference to the Bible? You’d never have known it, would you?
Well, more than 2 million users a month are, as the Globe blog puts it, “answering to a higher power on the Internet”. A founder of GodTube, Chris Wyatt, is quoted as saying: “We call it Jesus 2.0.”
Somewhat disturbingly for the GodTube-botherers, though, is this: “But as debacles involving MySpace.com, Facebook.com and other social networking sites have shown, just one keystroke from a hacker can disturb users’ tranquility.”
Oh, temptation, temptation! Get thee behind me, Satan!
