THE Dutch politician Geert Wilders is about to stir up another MoToons/MoDog/MoCat/MoBear type of rage (oh, add in Salman Rushdie and Submission) with an under-ten-minute film showing why the Koran is such an evil load of fascist propaganda, used as an inspiration “by bad people to do bad things”.
According to AP and the International Herald Tribune, Wilders’s latest assault on Islam will be shown in January. We look forward to it. Every little knock at the bunkum
and hogwash that this so-called “religion of peace” is in reality will, let us hope, continue to chip away at the edifice and make more and more people in the West sit up and realise what is growing in their midst.
He says it will show “the intolerant and fascist character” of the Koran, which he has in the past compared to Mein Kampf. He says – like Pim Fortuyn before him – that the Netherlands is being swamped by Islamic immigrants.
A story about this in the Guardian says,
In 2004 a film director, Theo van Gogh, had his throat slit by an Islamist after his film Submission portrayed abused Muslim women with Qur’anic texts written on their near-naked flesh. Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who wrote the screenplay, was threatened in a note left on Van Gogh’s body.
Wilders says he is not afraid of reprisals. “I have lived with 24-hour protection for three years. I will make the film and see what reaction it creates.”

The Pim Fortuyn tendency is one I deplore. The association of secularism with anti-immigration politics is something I resist.
Criticism of religion is one thing. Racism is another.
