NOW that Christian zealot Stephen “Stay a Virgin, Marry a Virgin” Green no longer has the chance of gaining fame as the man who dragged the BBC into the dock for blasphemy (see earlier post), whatever will the founder of the failed Christian Voice outfit do with his time?
Well, according to the ever-watchful Mediawatchwatch, it appears that the ghastly Green thinks he may be more successful “enabling a sexual healing clinic in Wales.”
Given that he has the hots for wholly-discredited “ex-gay” ministries – we can only assume that Green, who gleefully equates homosexuality with serial murderers and cannibalism, is now thinking of establishing an “ex-gay” ministry of his own.
If he does so, he can expect to fail even more spectacularly. In this country, the gay community – as he ought to know by now – are less-than-reverend in taking pillocks like him down a peg or two.
And we are delighted to learn from ours friends at The Gaytheist Agenda that gays in the United States have now begun a robust fight-back against “Ex-gay” ministries with a sophisticated new website, Truth will Out.
In a welcoming message on the website, ex-major league baseball player Billy Bean declares:
I support TruthWinsOut.org because they help protect GLBT youth from terrible and painful damage “ex-gay” programs inflict. As young people come out at earlier ages, sometimes as young as 10 or 11, it is critical that we destroy the credibility of the ex-gay movement so they can’t harm these kids.
“Destroy” is a strong word, but it is the appropriate one. We don’t want a dialogue with them, we want to shut them down, challenge their professional licenses, withdraw potential government funding and close the facilities that are little more than hell-holes for struggling LGBT youths or adults who have been brainwashed into believing there is something wrong with them.
TruthWinsOut.org also combats the ex-gays in the media, specifically focusing on one of their major weapons, the harmful misconception that homosexuality is a “lifestyle choice” which should and can be overcome through therapy and prayer. They have invested millions of dollars to convince parents that LGBT youths can “pray away the gay.”
Make no mistake. The ex-gay movement is not so much about converting young people as it is about creating an industry to fund their propaganda, their disinformation campaign to convince vulnerable segments of the public that gay people could choose to be straight if they only prayed harder.
TruthWinsOut.org proves how the ex-gay movement distorts science. They show up at ex-gay conferences and professional meetings to challenge the ex-gay movement in public. Sometimes TruthWinsOut.org volunteers even wear duck suits to make the point that the anti-gay science is quackery.
We at the Freethinker wish them all the best – and fervently hope that Green is heading for another ignominious failure!

In 2007 Green said something curious – that he had once tried to be himself “but having personally tried that, found it to lead to the gates of hell. I believe God would rather me be what He wants me to be.”
Hmmmm … are you thinking what I’m thinking?
This was revealed in one of Green’s many tedious press releases. This one concerned the Gay Pride event in Cardiff, where he was horrified to see gay people wearing T-shirts with the slogan “Be Yourself”. This, declared Green was “godless, humanistic and antinomian. (I had to look up “antinomian” and am still not quite sure what it means, but it can’t be all bad if Green disapproves.)

And when the Welsh authorities politely decline to fund/support this unqualified venture, Green can have a good old moan about the ‘discrimination’ towards Christians in favour of gays until he can get his fix from Mardi Gras season.
