More sick antics from the lunatic Phelps clan

THE gruesome decapitation of a young Canadian man on a Greyhound bus has brought the threat of a mini-invasion of Canada by members of the Westboro Baptist Church, based in Kansas, Topeka (see our earlier report here).

The sick WBC hate-mongers announced plans to picket the funeral of Tim McLean, 22. They claim that his slaying on July 30 was God’s response to Canadian policies that enabled abortion, homosexuality and adultery.

But, according to the Edmonton Sun, Canadian border guards have been told to bar members of the fanatical American church from entering the country.

NDP MP Pat Martin said his office was flooded with phone calls on Thursday from Winnipeggers outraged by the group’s planned protest.

These people [the WBC] are almost as crazy as the murderer. If they are here to disrupt the social order, that constitutes grounds to deny them entry. There is no redeeming virtue in the message they are bringing.

Martin said Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day’s office sent an alert to border patrol to “look out” for people with signs and pamphlets that fit the hateful messages that the church promotes and to keep them out of the country.

Said Martin:

In the opinion of his office, coming up here with the message they’re articulating constitutes hate speech.

Shirley Phelps-Roper, daughter of the deranged Rev Fred Phelps who founded the WBC, confirmed that a small group of church protesters had been stopped at the Canada-US border on Thursday afternoon.

They won’t let us in, but we have a group that will cross in another spot. They’ll have to strip search everyone who crosses that border or they won’t know who we are. They’ll have to see the WBC tattoo on our butts.

The thought that a demented old basket-case like Shirley Phelps-Roper has a tattoo on her saggy white arse somehow fills me with more revulsion than I can possible articulate.

McLean, a carnival worker, was headed back home to Winnipeg when he was stabbed and decapitated.

Passengers on the bus said the attack on McLean appeared to be unprovoked – that the man in the seat next to him simply stood up and started stabbing him before carving up his body.

Vince Weiguang Li, 40, of Edmonton, has been charged with second-degree murder. On Tuesday, a judge ordered Li to have a psychiatric evaluation to determine if he is fit to stand trial.
