There IS a verse in Quran that condones beating wives for 'disobedience'. The Quran also permits men to rape women, by the concept of "right hand possessions" (i.e. slaves or war booty). Thirdly, Muhammad indeed was a paedophile who married and consummated a 9 year old when he was 50.   How can I say that? Oh well, I was a devout Muslim once, a Hafiz (one who memorises the entire Quran). It is only after I started reading the Quran in Saudi translations to my own language that I realised the depravity in the religion. If a religion makes selfish, arrogant little men over mighty, women and childen will suffer the worst consequences. Those who profess to be liberals might reflect on that before they bleat about our duty to be 'sensitive' about Islam. I heard this horrific report.
