It is unclear whether you talk about the UK or the whole world having a ‘vast amount of daily indoctrination in religion’
If you mean’t the former, I still stick by my sentiments (see below), if the latter, I quite agree there should be much more rational atheist input, especially in Africa.

Come on Zig, in the UK those who would indoctrinate everybody into their religion are losing… badly! Books like ‘The God Delusion’ and ‘God Is Not Great’ sell like hot cakes rather than being thrown on a bonfire, homosexual couples can marry and are portrayed sympathetically in TV storylines every year, the ‘blasphemy’ law has gone bye-bye, young Muslims may drink alcohol and dress how they like, fringe-group fundies are largely considered comedy figures and can the average teenager list the Ten Commandments or give the Archbishop of Canterberry’s name?

Having said that, the supposedly ‘cancelled’ Christmas does last about three months

Dear Stuart W, You are surely joking when you say that the bus ads are “little more than a cheeky ‘back atcha’ to godbotherers”. When one compares the vast amount of daily indoctrination in religion that is available everywhere with the virtual total lack of presentation of atheist views, the money is well spent on bus acs. In fact, there should be much more publicity for the atheist view-point. Why else do atheists have ongoing attempts to persuade the BBC to allow more broadcasting thereof than they do and/or to curtail the regular daily messages from religionists which they make available to the entire nation?

Perhaps I misphrased; I’m quite aware of the expense involved in covering public transport across the country, but part of me just can’t help but think it is so much money for what is – lets be brutally honest – little more than a cheeky ‘back atcha’ to godbotherers.
Still, point taken about the original intention of donors.

Subscribers are paying for advertisments, to divert the oney for ANY other purpose would be a betrayal. Going UK wide is going to be expensive, especially if trains and hoardings are included. Don’t forget the follow-up ads too.

I agree with with Stuart. Donating to a charity would also demonstrate to religious bigots that athiests and secular people donate their money to worthy causes instead of putting them into the already bloated church coffers.
