WE’VE said it in the past, and we’ll say it again: Islam is rotten to its very core. It is a despicable, barbaric religion that revels in cruelty and degradation, and the world would be a far, far better place without it.

Yes, we are angry. VERY, very angry! So angry, in fact, that when the story first broke a few days ago of a 13-year-old girl being stoned to death in that benighted basket-case of an Islamic country called Somalia, we were just too damn furious to write about it.
But today, further details of the atrocity came to light in a BBC report, and we felt that we could no longer pretend that the barbarous incident never happened.

In this horrifying broadcast, an eye-witness to the murder of Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow, said the girl had begged for mercy, saying “don’t kill me, don’t kill me”.
Her crime? Well, there was no crime. She had, if fact, been the VICTIM of a gang rape – and when her family tried to report the incident, the authorities accused her of adultery, and it was ordered that she be stoned to death.
Ophelia Benson, over at Butterflies and Wheels, was beside herself with fury:

And she added:
So. A child of 13 and her father try to tell the authorities that she was raped by three men, and the authorities in response arrest her, order up a truckload of stones, bury her in the ground up to her neck, gather a crowd of a thousand people, and throw the truckload of stones at her head.
It’s hard to figure out what’s going on in the heads of people like that. It’s not just violent lashing out – it’s religious legal official punishment – carried out in cold blood and the pure odor of sanctity.
It’s hard to figure that out. What kind of monster do they think they worship, that wants children smashed to death with rocks for being raped? What kind of hideous, loathsome, savage, bloodthirsty, tyrannical, cruel monster do they imagine wants them to act like that? What kind of nightmare world do they live in? How do they look on their work and approve it?

This is genuine religion, stripped of its wishy-washy Western disguises. Like any unreasoning ideology, it makes its followers less than human. The ignorant, cowardly people who did this vile thing must have known, at some level, that they were behaving monstrously. This really breaks my heart, the absolute absence of feeling by the perpetrators of this so called justice because of their barbaric religious ideals. I am just at a loss for words to describe the anger and grief for this loss of an innocent life and I know it is one amongst many.

In passing, this type of report is unusual for the BBC. They would normally suppress this kind of report as it does not fit in with their pro-islam agenda. I confess that I couldn’t listen to more than a minute of the BBC report (too harrowing for me) but I didn’t hear the ‘M’ word once. I expect the blog to disappear before its existance is too widely circulated.

It's true that the koran doesn't impose the death penalty even for adult voluntary adulterers but Islam acts as if it does. The Old Testament does call for rape victims to be stoned to death.I don't understand how human beings can behave like this. I was devastated to read of it and incredibly frustrated that it's too late to prevent it. It's impossible to understand how human beings can behave like this, but evidence shows that religion corrupts.

ok. i was born in a country like that. but im not muslim. men are stoned as much as women in those countries but because we live in a feminate country we only hear about the women being stoned. if a man is caught commiting adultry he faces the same punishment as the women i.e. stoning. if the man has raped a woman and is convivted he will go in front of a croud and have his dick chopped off…….thats worse then death. if the man can prove that the girl pervoked him i.e. taken her clothes off she would not be stoned but whipped 100x for pervoking the man and the same punishment goes for the man. open ur eyes we live in a country where media hardly ever blames the woman but always the man. early 80s a morman preist family adopted a little girl and everybody in the family rapped that poor little girl everyday. when the girl grew up she filed suit…..mother recieved 40 years in prison….father recieved 140 years. the mother knew and allowed it but recieves less sentence because shes a woman. my work place is all woman and i was the only, man guess who got layed off first? we live in a sexist country and for the full 100 percent version of these stories i recomend you watch al-jazera american. always tells both sides of these stories with no biased opinion

Eddie, anti-male sexism may exist but this is not an exmple of it! It is Aisha’s age tht is exeptionally upsetting, not her sex – that and her being the victim not the perpetrator of a serious crime. When people thought she was a 23 year old woman who had had consensual sex, they were not as emotionally affected.
Men are often seen as more expendable as execution victims. as cannon fodder and in disasters -’women and children first’. The opposite is also often true as in honour killings and in the European witch hunt. It is not a competition. Do you really think people would have been less indignant if it had been a boy?It’s hardly appopriate to be jealous of Aisha, one of the most unfortunate people ever.
