A WARNING has been sounded to US parents to avoid buying their kids violent video games this Christmas.

Art Ally: Another Christian loon exposed
It comes from “ethical” investment company, the Timothy Plan, headed by a certain Art Ally, who says:
Many, if not most, parents who buy their kids video games really don’t know the extent of sex and violence imbedded in them. From drug use, prostitution, murder and mayhem to vulgar profanity and blasphemy these games have become a powerfully negative influence on our kids.
According to Marketwatch, Ally is offering concerned parents a complimentary report detailing the myriad of shocking gaming choices now available in the marketplace. At Timothy Plan’s website, you can download and print a report detailing what Ally describes as:
Some of the most violent and offensive video games ever to be available in my lifetime. I believe, if parents would take a moment to look at the report we’ve created, their game selections would be quite different.
At this point all the lights on my fundie detector started flashing at once – and not without good cause. A quick flick through Google revealed that Arthur J Ally is ONE OF THOSE!
According to this biog he is:
Founder and president of the Timothy Plan, the nation’s leading Biblically based, pro-life, pro-family mutual fund group. The Timothy Plan utilizes stringent moral screening criteria designed to avoid investing shareholders’ money in companies that exhibit a pattern of contributing to the cultural pollution of society.
Further digging revealed that the Timothy Plan is:
Uniquely different from your typical SRI fund in that we will not invest in companies that are involved in the areas of Pörnography – [would this be the same as Pornography without the umlaut?] – Abortion, Anti-Family Entertainment and the promotion of Non-Married Lifestyles.
So Ally won’t invest his “born-again” clients’ hard-earned dosh in such morally reprehensible companies such as McDonald’s because they are “promoting” homosexuality.
Ally complains:
McDonald’s has gone so far as to accuse those who oppose the gay agenda, including same sex marriage, of being motivated by hate.
Really? How on earth did McDonald’s get that idea? Especially when TP’s website clearly states how much it LOVES us miserable sinners:
The Bible is very clear about sexual immorality and homosexuality just as it is about refraining from sex before marriage and adultery. Does this mean that, because we will not invest in companies, which support these things, we hate those who choose this lifestyle or are involved in these practices? Nothing can be further from the truth. When Jesus came to this earth, He came to those who needed Him. All of these sins existed when He was here and He dealt with all of them. He guided, but He loved at the same time.
Sickbag, anyone?
Investment in Ford is a no-no too.
Despite the serious predicament they find themselves in, Ford continues to alienate middle American by aggressively promoting, condoning and supporting Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual and Trans-Gendered (GLBT) lifestyles.
Interestingly, one company into which the Timothy Fund is happy to sink its clients’ funds is Kennametal.
Observed one blogger:
They do a bunch of stuff, but this line from their website stood out: Kennametal produces a variety of tungsten alloy and tungsten carbide armor piercing penetrators for the US Government and prime contractors. The penetrators are utilized in small and medium caliber ammunition.
The fund is upset about pretend violence in a video game and one of their top ten investments is in a company making real bullets. You can’t make this stuff up. I guess it is ok to support a company which enables the killing of real people, but it would be morally reprehensible to support a company which enables killing of animated people.
It’s called hypocrisy!

Amusing how Ally lumps in blasphemy with murder and drug use.

Does that mean that the McDonald’s logo is representative of an upturned bum, and the “I’m lovin’ it” is a statement of their ‘homosexual agenda’?

I’ll take that sickback now, Barry.

That last bit is amazing, but oddly typical. For some reason Christians – esp. the US variety – think making guns, bombs etcetera is fine with their fantasy deity. They ask ‘What would Jesus do?’ about some fart-arsed little issue like taking Post-Its from work, but never ask themselves how many shekels Jesus and his pals invested in Imperial Roman Swords and Javelins plc.

This guy may be a nutjob, but I can’t say I disagree that ‘M’ rated games are just that, games with mature content, and generally, shouldn’t be played by children.
The guide itself is not a bad thing, maybe a little gay-paranoid, but some parents just don’t that games are already rated, and you can easily find out information about them on the interwebs.

Actually this could work the other way too, as I see, for example, they avoid half the world’s top 500 companies simply because they give staff benefits to same sex couples but invest in known scumbags like Exxon because they don’t.
So – their investment portfolio would be a handy guide to the world’s vilest, most bigoted companies. Essential info for anyone with a genuine interest in ethical investment!

Violent video games eh??, I’ll be getting a shitload of them from satan claus this christmas:P
I read this story over on the game politics website and followed the link to their list of games to be concerned about and it was some funny reading, especially when it had Mario and LittleBigPlanet alongside the likes of GTA and manhunt and their comment about the homoerotic undertones between the two charachters in army of two was hilarious.

I hate biblethumpers. They have no logic, are weak, pathetic excuses for human beings. We are all atheists, I just believe in one less god than they do, and when they realize why they dismisses all other gods as delusion, they’ll see exactly why I dismiss their imaginary buddy. Plus the Egyptian religion lasted twice as long as christianity; I’m hoping that like said mythology, christianity will die out and people will stop being so damn stupid. The whole antiquated myth is based on inconsistency, lie, politics and blatant fiction, and is obsolete in a society which wants to advance peacefully. Pathetic selfrighteous animals.

As the makers from Nintendo said (well something along the lines of) if video games truly influenced us we’d be sitting in a dark room chasing colorful pills around listening to annoying music. [pacman!!]

The delicious irony is that the exact same warning could be put on the Bible:
“Many, if not most, parents who buy their kids Bibles really don’t know the extent of sex and violence imbedded in them. From drug use, (alcohol), prostitution, (the only viable profession for women in the Bible), murder, (in the millions), and mayhem to vulgar profanity, (graphic descriptions), and blasphemy, (from the other guys?), these scriptures have become a powerfully negative influence on our kids.
