The parents in question we're religious and I believe provided a motive for their cruel and sadistic acts. I am sympathetic to Rozi's bemusement as to why this story didn't get better coverage and without wanting to sound like a soviet conspiritor, there are some facts that have not been presented publicly that would quite honestly make your stomach turn. Nevertheless you will be pleased to know that the boys are safe and seem to be doing very well in their new lives.

I'm sure anyone working for the Mail would know better than to try and cover this story. It's rather like the old Soviet system, and perhaps the new Russian one - there was no direct censorship from on high, just self-censorship by reporters who knew which side their bread was buttered on.

Rozi took the words straight out of my mouth.

I am not especially surprised. I know that the Daily Mail, at least, has a serious hard-on for anything that paints muslims or the non-religious 'PC brigade' as nutters with extreme beliefs. If you go on the same sites as some of us you will know that stories about Christian wingnuts are ten-a-penny but these stories will almost certainly not make the Mail.

Hope the little boys are swiftly housed with a lovely couple.

Good lord! Why isn't this given the same amount of press as the Baby P case?! Possibly because the religious right will get up themselves about discrimination? It makes me shudder. I usually hate that 'I'm a parent so I have more opinion' bullshit, but as a parent, this makes me feel physically sick that someone's religion (insanity) takes a greater priority over their children's welfare. Some people don't deserve children.

I too assumed it happened in America. Sure sounds like American christians to me. I'm glad they got 9 and 6 years. In my country you don't even get that for MURDER. I hope they don't have a right to parole. They've lost their right to be released early due to 'good behaviour'. All the good behaviour in the world can't make up for their wrongs.

I wish the two children all the luck and love in the world. Go live your life now, and make it a joyful life!

I had to double-take at the word "London" in the article. I had just automatically assumed this was happening in America, or maybe Africa.

I suppose the Muslims (and birdshits) of Britain don't entirely have the monopoly on insanity just yet

Their church probably held them in a position of deep respect after all children need to be disciplined or they won't grow up to be good christians.
