Well, I have been trying to make a go of it and blogging my brains out, but I certainly have to give you credit. That was excellently done. I don’t always make such clear points and a lot of blogs I read are poorly written and leave wondering just what were they trying to say.

I find it so hard to come up with new ideas and rewritting someone else’s work can backfire. Particularly if you don’t know whether they are truly an expert in their field. The longer I work on the internet the more I wonder about most of the content. However, to be fair their are many aurthors in the print media out there that espouse their ideas as fact when they are clearly questionable. It is almost as easy to have a book published as an ebook.

Anyway, thanks for the great blog.

What the hell is wrong with you people? The church didnt defend th stepfather, they condemned the murderers of innocent babies. Granted thegirl didnt choose to be raped, but that doesnt give her the right to kill innocents. Can’t you see this is a radically biased article? You are some seriously simple minded people.

How can they get away with this nonsense astounds me ? Anyone who can say what that frocked red capped wearing ar$eh*le said should be locked up … this anti-woman, peado-protecting biscuit-loving hate-promoting organisation should be banned full stop.

Why aren’t the mainstream news-sites promoting this story ??

The Catholic Church is, has been, and will always be malecentric to the extent that women, no matter how old, have few, if, any rights no matter what the bible (a horror comic book)says. More people born into impoverished conditions are more likely to seek religion (and therefore tithe to gain redemtion)for everyday woes. Suffering is the only way to get to heaven according to Christian dogma and age is no barrier. Religious!!!! Thomas J. Pitner

This case is getting universal coverage on all the atheist websites that I regularly visit. I haven’t noticed it being covered elsewhere, the story deserves wider coverage. This would hopefully be another nail in the coffin of the vile Catholic Church.

Bubblecar. If it was that easy the Church would have imploded long ago.

I just want to echo the comments of everyone else here. It’s crazy that they can justify their view by the claim that the unborn children had a right to live, yet they don’t even consider that the already living child, or young woman if you’re a muslim, carrying them also has a right to live. But then reason was never their strong point (do they even have a strong point?).

Also, as noted by others here, there is no mention of excommunicating the step father. I guess they’re too busy arranging his escape from justice. Or is that perk only for members of the clergy?

This has to be all good in the end. The present catholic church is crucifying itself (isn’t that blasphemy on their part?) and we should be thankful for that at least. We should also be thankful that they got involved in this case AFTER the abortion and not before. If they had got involved before, it is conceivable that this little girl, or young woman if you’re a muslim, would have had to go through with giving birth to these twins and lost her life in the process. Her babies may have died also. What then would have been achieved by these morons?

They should be taken to task over this whole â€œgods law is above any humanâ€™s lawâ€ garbage. This is a very dangerous view to hold and is the cause of many extremist actions. What does it take for politicians to stand up to these people the way they should?

Historically, the Vatican has always taken a tolerant and understanding line towards its own child-rapists, hasn’t it? When did a Cardinal ever say ‘You raped a child, Father Flaherty I’m calling the cops’? My guess is never. The Catholic love of children stops when they emerge from the womb, whereupon they become fair game for paedophiles.

I saw this on on that “piousness of the day” (or whatever it is, the site that mocks “thought for the day”) site. The poster ended it with the thoughtful comment “after all this, who would want to be called a catholic?”
