BUNS of steel kabbalahist and kiddie-collector Madonna must clean up her act for a performance in St Petersburg later this year.
Hermitage Museum director Mikhail Piotrovsky insisted:
We want guarantees that there will be no blasphemy at Dvortsovaya Square.
The square is where Madonna’s Sweet and Sticky performance is due to be held on August 2.

Madonna and cross
Piotrovsky, according to this report, was referring to the notorious Live to Tell act, featuring Madonna singing from a huge glass cross wearing a crown of thorns. The Vatican sharply criticised the act as blasphemous, as did the Orthodox Church, but the singer is standing her ground. During her Confessions tour two years ago, Madonna performed Live to Tell at her Moscow concert, ignoring howls of outrage.
This time, St Petersburg authorities are determined to make sure the show is contains nothing offensive.
Piotrovsky said:
Call it a violation of freedom of speech, but we have an angel with a cross standing at Dvortsovaya Square.
Sure, but does it sing, dance and display a camel toe?
The joyless Piotrovsky feels that the event should not be held at St. Petersburg’s central square at all. He also said that Madonna has yet to sign an agreement limiting the sound volume during the concert. Without this agreement, he said, the concert cannot take place.
The city authorities earlier likened the Madonna concern to “a natural disaster” and sought to ban it.

Say what you like about Madonna but she is still fit at fifty.
She has the body of a man half her age!

Sigh. They think Madonna’s still controversial?! Get with the noughties! She hasn’t been offensive since 1984! Christ alive. Good to see Russia is joining the rest of the 21st century then.

Anyone who believes that there is such a thing as “blasphemy”, “heresy” or “mortal sin” is dangerously, criminally, certifiably insane.

“She has the body of a man half her age!”
Ha!
Jeez, it’s almost like the Russians don’t have a sense of humor or something.

I can remember when Russia was held up as being a hot-bed of atheism, a warning to the faithful of what a godless society would be like. In reality the place seems to have been infested with God botherers, either that or they have made a hell of a lot of converts since the union collapsed.

Stonyground, you are correct that Russia has been infested by the god squad. Since the Berlin wall collapse the fundies have sent swarms of bible bashers – especially from the USA – to teach the Russians the “error” of their ways. This is fairly well documented if you search the internet.
