WITH the outbreak of swine flu in Mexico, we were taking bets in the pub last night as to which Islamic country would be the first to demand that the viral condition be renamed so that it would not offend Muslims.

Saudi Arabia was the first choice, with Pakistan weighing in as a close second.

But guess what? No-one thought of Israel.

Today Deputy Health Minister Yakov Litzman, holding a press conference to update the public on developments regarding the epidemic in Israel, recommended that it be called “Mexican flu” rather than “swine flu”.

According to this report, only two Israelis are believed to have contracted swine Mexican flu. Tomer Vajim, 26, was admitted to the Laniado Hospital in Netanya after returning from Mexico with signs of the viral infection.

A second man who returned from Mexico on Sunday was admitted to the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba and put in isolation after exhibiting suspect symptoms, including fever and coughing.

  1. This is almost too funny for words!! More "Tosh" from the rabbis!!!

  2. There's a whole range of animals Jews and Muslims aren't allowed to eat – so why the fuss and porcine preoccupation. Fucking Shitheads!

  3. This is what happens when you give rabbis Goverment posts
Read this damming report from Haaretz

  4. I'm wondering how long it is before some bible bashing fruitcake decides that this outbreak is "Gods wrath" as punishment for gay people getting married or some shit like that.

  5. Gee, why aren't they concerned about offending Mexicans?

  6. Because most Mexicans are Catholic.

  7. I was just going to say exactly that. After all, it's more the pigs' fault than it is the Mexicans'.

  8. Well if it offends them they just shouldn’t catch it.

  9. That was VERY funny Buffy!!!

  10. Ive been trying to sign in ( to recommend my own comments ;) but I cant work it out, can anyone explain it to me please.

  11. You need to create an account at <a href=”http://www.IntenseDebate.com” target=”_blank”>http://www.IntenseDebate.com first.

(But you still won't be able to recommend your own coments :)

  12. Well I did it. I have no idea how, it just kinda happened.

As for this story. Its not as if you can catch this flu from a bacon sarnie, I dont see the problem, pigs exist which is more than can be said for god, get used to it!

  13. So was that!!!!! (Wasn`t it Oscar Wilde who, when someone remarked: "I wish I`d said that" replied: "You will"!!!)

  14. Thanks David.

  15. I`m willing to bet that pigs call it "Jewish flu".

  16. I expect the jews and muzzies will accuse us of introducing swine flu just to annoy them, because they have an irrational fear of pork.

  17. 'Its not as if you can catch this flu from a bacon sarnie…'

True, but you might develop a nasty rasher.

  18. And if you do then just use some oinkment!

  19. Dont mention the swine! I mentioned it once, and I think I got away with it….

  20. Jew flu.

  21. I may never eat pork again after reading the Rolling Stone article. I guess some humans (and their companies) will never rise above common decency. These pig factories have been polluting for years but as long as they line the politicians pockets they can do as they please. Now we have exported their stupidity.

  22. These people are just pathetic, there are so many important things that they could be getting steamed up about but no, it has to be something as stupid and meaningless as this. As for the feared swine-flu pandemic, there are some really funny articles on the Daily Mash website about it.

  23. I am never going to eat a Jew again.

What about muslims? Are you going to continue eating them? If you do, you know you will incur the wrath of jews for discriminating against them by refusing to eat jews whilst still consuming muslims. You have to be fair you know!

  25. Can I please throw a small observation in?

Several years ago we were all going to die of bse, then avian flu, then hong kong flu, Sadly this years animal themed fear has people running about like sheep. If my memory serves me right, more people died in the UK in 2002 from pneumonia than died world wide from sars. You can't keep a good pandemic down. Good to see the British media fanning the flames of stupidity once again.

  26. Shit! I never thought of that. Better see what my holy book has to say about it!!

  27. It`s OK "Godless" – I can eat BOTH as long as they don`t have cloven hooves and don`t chew the cud (I looked it up in Leviticus!). That`s saved my bacon!!

I think that would be a good idea. NEVER try to think for yourself. Your holy book will tell you all you need to know.

  30. Holy cow – very funny, as usual, Godless! Do you think the Mohammedans know about this site though? (Or the fundie Xtians for that matter.) Another of my favourites has also covered the subject – take a look at http://xkcd.com/574/

  31. My wife wouldn't fill up at the petrol station until I told her the flu was from Mexico and not Texaco?
