TEXAS chiropractor Dr Scott Dawson invites people to “experience the freedom of well-being” – but this despicable Christian zealot demonstrated no concern for the well-being of one of his employees, breast cancer sufferer Amanda Donaldson, when he discovered she was an atheist.

chiro3

In fact he fired Amanda Donaldson because he believed her atheism was a threat to his “Christ-oriented” practice – but before doing so he threw a monumental tantrum.

Said Amanda, who had recently  undergone a mastectomy:

He proceeded to scream and yell at me, while I was trying to get the key to his office off my keychain and gather my belongings, demanding that if I would accept Jesus I would be ok and telling me there was no point in my being there anyway, since I was never there.

The “never there” jibe referred her absences from work when she was being treated for her cancer.

Dawson found out about Amanda’s lack of belief when he stumbled on a blog run by her husband Brant in which he made clear his negative attitude towards religion. Brant set up www.saveamanda.com – where you can leave a message of support for Amanda – and frequently blogs about the her illness, and the physical, mental and financial pain of her  suffering breast cancer.

Dawson then threatened to sack Amanda if her husband did not remove the anti-religious content from his blog. In order to protect his wife’s job, Brant removed his personal religious opinions from previously posted entries.

This was not good enough for the swivel-eyed zealot. On May 4, according to Brant:

A few hours into her shift he [Dawson] again brings up that she needs Jesus in her life, and she respectfully declined. She was told to leave.  She was told  ‘Her attitude towards God was no longer welcome in his business’.

Brant also stated that Dawson told Amanda that:

She is being punished for her lack of faith.

Pastor Wiley Drake: crazy as a shithouse rat!

Pastor Wiley Drake: crazy as a shithouse rat!

And now to a report about a posturing little tosspot called Wiley Drake (with a name that, what else could he be but a redneck nincompoop?)

Drake is pastor of the  First Southern Baptist Church in Buena Park, California – and he has been asking his followers to pray for Barack Obama’s death. He was given the chance to discuss these prayers with TV interviewer Alan Colmes.

Colmes: So you’re praying for the death of the president of the United States?

Drake: Yes.

Colmes: Are you concerned that by saying that you might find yourself on some secret service call or FBI most wanted list. Do you think it’s appropriate to say something like that or even pray for something like that?

Drake: I think it’s appropriate to pray for the will of God. I’m not saying anything, what I’m doing is repeating what God is saying, if that puts me on somebodies list then I’ll just have to be on their list.

Colmes: You would like for the president of the United States to die?

Drake: If he does not turn to God and does not turn his life around I am asking God to enforce in imprecatory prayers throughout the scripture that would cause him death, that’s correct.

  1. So the smug, arrogant tosspot that is Wiley Drake wants to see Joe Biden in the Whitehouse? Is that what you want, Lance? 'Coz that's what'll happen.

Let's just say, though, that Obama did drop dead suddenly from some undiagnosed, congenital defect. Could Drake then be prosecuted as an accessory to murder? I'd like to see that one come before the courts: Drake's only defence would necessarily have to be that prayer is actually useless…

I'm not even going to comment on that first story… 'spitting feathers' doesn't even begin to describe the way I feel on reading that.

  2. I've dropped a line to Dawson, not something I normally do but needs must.

  3. "She is being punished for her lack of faith" as opposed to her condition being a test of her faith if she had some. Even the Bible acknowledges that good and bad things happen to good and bad people completely at random. It is just the same regarding religious belief, devout Christians contract diseases exactly as often as atheists do, Dawson is an obnoxious moron.

I love the bit about Obama turning his life around, as if becoming the leader of the most powerful nation on the planet is some kind of failure.

America does seem to excel at producing whackos doesn't it, we only have one, they seem to have thousands.

(I believe tha Steven Green is the only British Whacko that is in the same league as the American ones, somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

  4. Tim,

They'll have to prosecute Thor right alongside Drake: http://deusexeverriculum.wordp.....09/06/15...

  5. I think I'm missing something here.
A Xtian or moslem can't be fired because of their religion.
    But the woman can be??!!!???
Oh she IS a woman so it don't count??
Oh no sheria(?) law is now inforced in america???
Why can't she sue the pants off this twit than cut his miniscue balls off???
I know lots os spelling errors. Tough. If you can read the crappy internet shorthand stuff then my spelling aint that bad.

The prayer thing is nonsense. But it would be really cool to have the SS catch someone trying to kill Obama and when asked he says 'gOd told him to answer this jokers prayer.' That would be sweet!!!

  6. Ah, the seven habits of highly effective managers…No. 1: 'Delegate, Delegate, Delegate…'

Cheers, Postie — that made oi larf.

  7. Amanda is dead. She died on the 12th of July. It's posted on her blog http://www.saveamanda.com

  8. She's screwed…..Now she'll never find a chiropractor prepared to cure her cancer.

  9. Surely what this davson zealot has done is illegal??

  10. In this case, three cheers for our litigious society. I bet the law practices are lining up for this one.

Either this chiropractor is unbelievably stupid, or an idiot.

  11. I have just checked the blog, and while there is mention of her almost dying I can see nothing that says she has died.

  12. Austin's atheist blog (see 3rd link in the report, has this to say on the subject:

By now I'll bet you're thinking that Amanda Donaldson has a great legal case for illegal religious discrimination and will win a lawsuit — but you'd be wrong. Amanda has already gone to the EEOC and spoken with her state representatives and apparently Dr. Dawson could just state outright "yeah, I fired her because she's an atheist and I'd do it again" without having to fear any legal repercussions.

Why? Because labor laws in the state of Texas don't entirely protect employees in companies that have 15 or fewer people working there. According to Amanda, any sort of discrimination — religious, racial, gender, disability etc. — is legal for small firms. She's trying to get the law changed, but even if she's successful that can't help her now.

  14. You are one sick puppy. Now pick up your coat and leave!

  15. See my reply to Mark Richards

  16. Drake seems fond of imprecatory prayers. Last year he was praying for the staff of Americans United to die. It seems he was cheesed because they filed a complaint when he officially endorsed Mike Huckabee for president. What an a-hole he is.

  17. He's a christian AND a chiropractor; idiocy doesn't get more stacked-up than this

  18. Oh, I see. He says she died but then she got better. Whew. I am so glad to read it.

  19. This is madness. Why is this man allowed to say things like this and get away with it.
Still typical religious bigots, get away with anything.
Who is his'god' anyway, what will all the other so called 'gods' do now.
Anyway who would want to work for this mad man.
By the way what has President Obhama reacted. Anyone have any info on this?.

  20. Does someone feel the love? "Jesus loves you, no matter what…not only if you believe in him…die die die a$$hole! Blasphemer!! "

I think the entire line of thinking of the chiropractor was that :P

  22. I thought that was very witty myself, especially when you consider the outrageous claims these quacks are making, and the curent libel action over a certain reporter who dared to suggest that their treatments might, in fact, not be all that they are made out to be! Who`d want to work for a chiroprick anyway?

  23. BTW Does anyone else get as worked up as I do over these "Chinese Herbal Doctors" who seem to be invading high streets all over the UK? I`d like to know what their qualifications are, and what sort of control is exercised over their "medicines" and "treatments". I often wonder where Trading Standards officers are, as they all display an incredible list of ailments that they are supposedly able to treat, and some are even claiming to be able to "cure cancer". If this is indeed the case it would surely save the NHS vast sums of money!!

  24. Spot on, M leGronk. When I was a "Practising Christian" and suffering from depression, friends of mine actually offered to pay for me to have a consultation with an eminent homeopath (as if that would do any good whatsoever!). All these fringe therapies are very popular with the fundamentalists, confirming my suspicions that they would prefer to believe in myth and magic than deal with reality!!

  26. These vicious, cruel nutters re so far off the wall that I struggle to get my head round what they are doing. There is a lesson here for us: think Rowan Williams, a man who changed his views on gays so drastically to accommodate the African bigots, that even Dr Barry Morgan his successor in Wales protested. Or the utter crap that you can hear regularly on Thought for the Day which accommodates the vile Ann Atkins, vicar's wife, and as bigotted as they come. Meanwhile some twat on the BBC, on a vast salary, pronounces ex cathedra that "those without a faith will not be permitted on the porogramme so fuck off and don't ask again." I paraphrase a little. No discussion, of course. And now I hear that Tony Blair, who ought to be tried for war crimes, lying to parliament, sub rosa promises to George Bush and his enthusiasm for faith schools (paid by our taxes, natch) is the British Government's "preferred candidate" to be President of Europe. Wouldn't he just love that?

  28. And sponsored by none other than "Baroness Kinnock" would you believe it? (I`ve just been sick all over my keyboard!!)

  29. I`m praying for that Wiley old Drake to choke on his own bile. Anyone care to join me?

  30. Me too. Why do we let them get away with it?

  31. Count me in. May have to hope, rather than pray, but I'm with you.

  32. Perfectly sensible from his point of view. With his kind of moronic ability he has no hope of being a real doctor. And in his present role, and in his location, he will be treated as if he had the wisdom of a Socrates. Remember Dr Ian Paisley? His doctorate came from the Bob Jones University where they were enthusiastically anti gay, anti Jewish, and VERY anti atheists. The BBC insisted on referring to Ian Paisley, with the utmost respect, as Dr Paisley. He loved that. Maybe we should just give all of us titles so that they become even more meaningless than they are already.

If I call myself Lord Broga or Baron Broga (nice alliterative sound to that) or Earl of Broga who is to stop me? Could be one way to get at the nonsense in the Lords. Swamp them with so many Lords that they whole daft business is so confused and devalued that their efforts are rendered useless.

  33. Bit of GOOD news though: apparently Cherie Bliar is suffering from Swine Flu. Seems it`s just seeking out the REAL swine in society, so may not be as widespread as was feared at first!

  34. James Lunney, a member of the Canadian Parliament from the Christian Taliban party that is currently conspiring to restore heretic burning, stated in the House a couple of days ago, ""Any scientist who declares that the theory of evolution is a fact has already abandoned the foundations of science." In view of his abysmal ignorance and scientific illiteracy, it came as no surprise that Mr Lunney was a chiropractor.

  35. Billy Graham`s "doctorate" is also honorary, but not awarded by Bob Jones University, even though he commenced his theological training there. They fell out spectacularly over his association with Roman Catholics when conducting his crusades, and Bob Jones 397th or whatever issued an edict forbidding staff and students from attending Graham rallies on pain of excommunication! "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (John 13:35).!!

  36. Drake seems a tad confused. Firstly he seems to claim that Obama's death is god's will:

"I think it’s appropriate to pray for the will of God."

And then just a few lines later he seems to say that god has to be specifically asked to have Obama die:

"If he does not turn to God and does not turn his life around I am asking God to enforce in imprecatory prayers throughout the scripture that would cause him death…"

So in just a few lines he goes from "I'm just doing what god wants" to "I am asking god to do what I want." And no one calls him on it. Astonishing.

  37. Thanks. If we can't laugh at them, then we're liable to go insane.

  38. Not being able to devote my entire evening and night to attacking these slimy gits – despite a strongly held view to the contrary by my long suffering missus – I had not got round to having a look at that Wiley Drake twat. Man, isn't he something. If ever a face – simpleton sneering – fitted an opinion then he is the one. Looking at him brings on the dry heaves.

  39. Quite correct and an astute and insightful observation. Although, some are coming up fast on the rails. Stevie boy is the only one crazy enough to come straight out with it. He may have gone beyond religious craziness into clinical paranoia by now. But he is one crazy dipshit and no mistake.

  40. There is more on this story, including the American take on it, over at http://thebeattitude.com/?s=wiley+drake (105 comments). Someone said on that site that they couldn`t see any difference between Wiley Dork and Osama Bin Laden. My reply was that one is a deluded, paranoid, amoral retard, living a life cut off from reality whilst plotting the death of his imagined enemies, whereas the other is a Muslim warlord!

  41. Thor blimey!

  42. Excellent! Warm applause for Mr Barriejohn please.

  43. barriejohn. Been following up your links and they are a treat. Thanks. That blogroll I came across. Great stuff.

    Broga.

  44. Actually, my wife went to one, for some smoking-related illness… either giving up, or smoker's cough…or summat…

Anyway, she came home with this bag of foul-smelling leaves and twigs that cost a fortune, and which cooked up into an even fouler-smelling brew. It was so much fun watching her trying to chug it down, and seeing the gag reflex kicking in.

And did it cure whatever she was suffering from? Did it fuck.

I agree, BJ (oo-err…) they should be made to put up or shut up (shop).

  45. Yup, my lunatic fundamentalist auntie has been so taken up with all this shit in the last two years, she's even become an agent for selling homeopathic remedies and aloe vera and arnica and that shite.

Odd thing is (well, not really), she promotes the homeoshite with the same glassy-eyed, happy-clappy fervour that she does her religion.

They were talking about it at my mam's, and my mam happened to mention Dawkin's 'Enemies of Reason' docu, in which he debunked all this, and my auntie's reaction (to Dawkin's criticism's of homeopathy) was "yes, but he doesn't even believe in Jesus!".

Pick the psychopathology out of that one…

  46. If anyone thinks it is worth the cost of a stamp to send a printout of Barryjohn's comment to the self-confessed sheep-fleecer, the address is: Pastor Wiley Drake, First Southern Baptist Church, 680 West Avenue, Bueno Park, CA 90621, USA.

  47. He`d have to find someone to read it to him, Dr H!!

  48. Aha! Aloe Vera raises its head once again!! When I was a Christian ( many years ago now) some of them were selling it (with evangelical zeal of course) under the auspices of the MLM (pyramid selling) organization Herbalife. It was supposed to be a wonder-cure, much like Lily the Pink`s "Medicinal Compound" , but I thought it had now faded into well-deserved obscurity. If there really were a naturally occurring "elixir" then common sense tells you that it would not be necessary to advertise the fact!

BTW I used to love that song, "Lily the Pink", by The Scaffold, but did you realize that it was based on a real folk ballad about Lydia Pinkham and her famous Vegetable Compound? (Only efficacious in the case of women`s complaints though, sadly!!) I think it may still be available in the States!

  49. Your wife may have been lucky, Tim. These Chinese "herbal medicines" (ie weeds) have caused serious illness in some cases. Some of the practitioners have been prosecuted for using forbidden ingredients too. I wouldn`t partake of any medicine that wasn `t commonly used, and even then I`d exercise caution! I gave some old socks to the local charity shop recently (for recycling not reselling): if I`d known, I could have sent them to you for your wife to boil up. I`m sure the concoction would have been just as effective!!

  50. Great sentiments Broga, Still however much we point these things out the stupid will not understand.
Thought for the day. get rid of god fearing people who spout absurdities, who i believe do not really believe what they say themselves, off of the BBc. We pay for the licence so we should get a reduction in ours, unless of course thought for the day will include atheists. Oh dear we must not offend the church, those in power, no that will never do. What a load of….as you say.

  53. It occurred to me that some readers might not be fully aware of the reason for your antipathy towards Anne Atkins, Broga, in which case they might like to take a look at this page on the Christian Institute site (Christians institutionalized – now there`s a thought!): http://www.christian.org.uk/ht.....ions/sou... There`s a lot there to cause both amusement and concern!!

  54. BTW Notice how outraged they were at the suggestion (made without any evidence whatsoever)
that there might have been some collusion between objectors to Ms Atkins`s bigotted comments! Of course, the religious right would never stoop so low as to orchestrate a campaign objecting to the rights of others to express their views or go about their perfectly lawful business, would they?

  56. It must be frustrating being a paster when you have such sadistic sentiments with useless prayer your only weapon. He's too old and fat now to get a job in the army. What's so troubling is that he looks so normal.

  57. Does this mean that if Obama is killed we can blame Drake and send him to trial. Or perhaps their god. who he prays to. There was a film with Billy Connolly when he sued god in Court . It was great. I must look it up and watch it again, may give me some ideas..
