Because aside from the issue of being raised as a member of a faith, many LGBT naturally hold certain beliefs just like heterosexuals, and the fact they're denied by many other people of faith doesn't change that. What else can they do but either deny one, or actively try to change things?

The catholic church (the whole thing) is on the verge of breaking apart. It reminds one of the late Soviet Union at the time Gorbachev took over. I think the pope is afraid of that and plays a pre-Gorbachev game.
Concerning the current schismatics I think it is just a harbinger of things inevitably to snowball.
The sooner the healthier. The Catholics then can stay what they are and choose for themselves without being excommunicated or feeling irrelevant.

If his church is generally all-inclusive with loads of females as well as men as "priests", married and celibate and it's all part of this LGBT group… WHY did it take him so long to come out of the closet?

Nah, I think he should be totally ashamed of himself for coming out…as a catholic priest. How disgusting, and what an abomination to society. He should go get some therapy. I'm sure there are plenty of churches where he can go to get cured of his catholicism, maybe an exorcism would do it?
