I think in fairness you should point out that this man is ALONE on his little island. I've been a baptist my entire life and I've never heard anyone talk like this guy. He is nuts, and the Bible doesn't line up with the garbage he speaks.
I just think it's important that your readers know this guy is not mainstream.

Oh come on, Tom! I grew up with Christian fundies who talked like Anderson all the time. Sure, people like him are nuts, but ask yourself what drove them to that state of insanity in the first place. For the answer, look further than the Christian Bible, the source of more human misery than any other single work of fiction every published.

Well, I go sitting down – for 2 reasons 1. as it's quieter so as not to disturb the baby in the room next door and 2. I can get thru at least a page or two of the book I'm reading (I'm a fast reader)
(oh I thought of a 3rd it's kinder on the bathroom rug too – if I've been binge drinking…)
I imagine Pastor Steve if that IS his real name, likes to piss all over the seat like a horse and leave the lid up to affirm his manhood, only to punch his wife in the jaw for complaining later on in the evening…

Although they're dangerously demented, I have to at least admire the honesty of the fringe. Of all the stories about Jesus, there was never one where he told his followers that all of the death penalties and health remedies in the Old Testament were just tribal absurdities that should be ignored. The Bible has a cure for leprosy, as well as everything everything else that ails one, and clear rules for fashion, agriculture, cuisine, worship and animal sacrifice, social and legal codes including the proper way to treat your slaves.
