ALL they really want is to save us Brits from a life of hedonism. If we were to give up “being slaves to our desires and man-made laws” and embrace “the just system of Islam” instead, we would then become “slaves to the Creator, Allah, alone”.
This is the message Islam for the UK hoped to hammer home at a demonstration due to take place in London yesterday.
But our salvation had to be put on hold. The rally was cancelled at the last minute.

Anjem Choudary, the swivel-eyed leader of the radical Islamic sect Al Muhajiroun and front man for Islam for the UK, said organisers been forced to cancel the planned march from the House of Commons to Trafalgar Square because of security concerns.
But he added that a meeting of supporters of sharia law would still take place at an undisclosed location.
Choudary, you might remember, was exposed by the Daily Mail earlier this year as having been a bit of a party animal in his youth, before Islam turned him into a koranimal.
Islam for the UK was not best pleased by the report. Its webshite wailed:

The fact remains that alcohol, drugs, gambling, pornography and the promotion of promiscuity remain the scourge of Capitalist societies, they exploit the instincts, feelings and desires of people and must be eradicated and replaced with the just system of Islam to elevate mankind from the darkness of man-made law in the beauty and life of Islam.
This is the Islamic call, for the people of British society to give up the hedonistic culture that is encouraged in the name of freedom, to give up being slaves to one’s desires and to man made laws and become a slave to the Creator, Allah alone.
Had the rally gone ahead, the group – which has grand plans for a make-over of Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, and who knows what other famous British landmarks? – would have discovered that not all Muslims share its crackpot ideas.
The Islamic Society of Britain, for example, said it would join other organisations in staging a “dignified, non-violent” counter-protest at Piccadilly Circus.
Julie Siddiqi, of The Islamic Society of Britain, said:
We urge people across the UK of all faiths and no faith not to be provoked by those seeking to divide us. The democracy we currently enjoy in Britain allows everyone to practise their faith freely. It is the actions of a few extremists that continue to marginalise and further misrepresent our faith.
Although the main event was cancelled, opponents of sharia did make their presence felt in London yesterday – but on a small scale.
Only about 30 protesters gathered holding placards which read: “Islam will not dominate”, “Free speech will dominate the world”, and “March for England”.

I read about his claims, demands and the need to impeiment sharia law to safe us from hedonism. After considering what he wants in detail and after much thought and also allowing for his generous wish to save us from ourselves this presents a tough decison for me. However, on balance, in general, give or take a few issues I am afraid that that hedonism just shades it for me over sharia law.

I never was the party animal our alleged saviour, who may have been more fun when having the occasional drink, used to be, but I’ll pass his generous offer for salvation. Free speech and free drinks for all! And to end this on a un-PC note: the gathering at an undisclosed location sounds like a circle-jerk to me. Let’s hope they’ll get their rocks off, it may calm them down for a while.

Every day while waiting for the bus home from work I watch dozens of kids hurry to the mosque across the road for their lessons in how to be a good muslim. These lessons seem to begin for most kids at around 6/7 years old. The classes happen every evening after school and are totally cut off from any kind of regulation.
Muslim kids are brainwashed their whole lives and this is why these idiots come out with what we see as such outrageous statements. It’s perfectly sensible to him and even most moderate muslims would see sense in it where we see only dribbling hate-fuelled nonsense.
The only way to stop this is to totally ban the religious training of children under 16. How you’d achieve that in practice I shudder to think!

What is this hedonism that I need to be saved from? I like a pint of beer on a fairly regular basis, and get in a nice malt whisky for my birthday and at Christmas but these days I hardly ever get pissed. I have only one sexual partner although I have had different ones, never more that one at once, in the past. Other than that I grow vegetables, make things out of wood, enjoy driving and motorcycling and read a lot of books. The village that I live in hardly seems to be the den of vice that Chowdary seems to see, there is however a small town called Hedon about ten miles away, maybe that is where all the hedonism is happening.

Andrea. What you describe seems so desperately sad. And when this process is completed many of them will have a certainty that they, and only they, must be right. There is a spread of secularism and freethought even amongst muslims thanks, I guess, mainly on the Internet.

Hedonism in the UK? Well being taxed to near poverty, rising unemployment, our elderly dying because they can’t afford to heat their homes, spied on by Government cameras, free speech being suppressed, can’t criticise islam or immigration without being called a racist….Yes, what a lifestyle we have. Makes you wonder why Choudary and his mates want to live here – benefits of course.

Broga, when I first read your post I skipped the word Andrea at the beginning and thought that the desperately sad thing that you were reffering to was my life.
As for freedom and democracy, they seem to be under threat from our own government rather than from nutters like Chowdary.
