		<description>Great idea and I wish you well.   My first piece in The Freethinker was published in the late 1950s and I couldn&#039;t believe it.  My great hero then, and so he remains, was David Tribe.  His front page articles showed me that you could attack religion with punchy writing underpinned by religious knowledge.   I had never seen anything like it.  

I must have read my article about ten times straight off.  However, pride comes before a fall as they say and nemesis awaited.  The problem was that it was then seen by my religious head of the department who took exception to it.  (To understate his feelings.)   My atheist senior colleage who put me on to The Freethinker suggested that I either choose a pseudonymn (which I did) or kiss goodbye to any hopes of promotion.
