Faleh Hassan Almaleki and his daughter Noor Faleh Almaleki
A 20-year-old Muslim woman has died in an Arizona hospital, nearly two weeks after her father ran her over with his Jeep Grand Cherokee because she had become “too Westernized.”
Noor Faleh Almaleki, originally from Iraq, died this week of injuries suffered when she was run over October 20 in a parking lot in the Phoenix suburb of Peoria, Arizona.
According to this report, authorities said they expect to change the aggravated assault charge against her father, Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, to more severe counts after meetings with prosecutors.
Peoria police said Faleh Hassan Almaleki believed his daughter had become “too Westernized” and had abandoned “traditional” Iraqi values.
Peoria police spokesman Mike Tellef told CNN the family moved to the Phoenix area in the mid-1990s, and Almaleki was unhappy with his daughter’s style of dress and her resistance to his rules.
After the incident, Almaleki’s father drove to Mexico, abandoning his vehicle in Nogales, Peoria police said.
He then made his way to Mexico City and boarded a plane to Britain, where authorities denied him entry into the country and put him on a plane back to the United States.
A friend of the dead woman, Amal Edan Khalaf, 43, also suffered serious injuries in the attack, police said.
Almaleki faces a separate aggravated assault charge in connection with her injuries. According to this report, Noor had been living with Khalaf and Khalaf’s son after backing out of an arranged marriage about a year ago.
The father is currently held in Phoenix, with bail has been set at $5 million.

How more westernized can you get than a grand cherokee? An F-150 with a gunrack in the rear window? This guy committed his crime, ran away to Mexico,flew to London……I assume he had a western-style credit card and ID documents wth him? Since this is a culturally/religiously inspired crime doesn’t it constitute a hate crime? But anyway, what kind of monster murders his own daughter for ANY reason?

This guy was arrested at an airport that is less than 100 miles away from where I live. A couple years ago another muslim here in GA killed his daughter because she married a guy via an arranged marriage and wanted a divorce. The father also considered it an affront to Islam. People like him should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. It may be legal for them to kill daughters in their countries of origin but not here.

Consider what his daughter must have suffered over the years before her death. I wonder what he regarded as “traditional Iraqi values” apart from: running away like the coward he is; killing woman who dare to disagree with his “authority”; hypocrisy in that driving his jeep is OK but not his daughter wanting Western freedom.
Mike got it spot on. This sadist came to the right country and he knew it: Britain. Hell, with a bit of luck he could have been in here preaching in a Mosque about the abandonment of “real values” in Arizona; supported by our oecumenical bishops and, with a touch of luck, a spot on Thought for the Day.

The son would have been driving the vehicle. Or perhaps insisting that baby girls must have FGM (these clitorses sliced off) because that too may be in accord with “traditional” values.

This is sad, but I don’t understand why does it always becomes about Islam and all that.. so if a crazy person does something and say Islam we all want to blame Islam or “where these people come from”. What about other stores where mothers and fathers have killed there kids, so by this logic we can pretty much blame any religion, society or culture. Just as an example 1. a guy in NY killed his daughter for txt msging (and no he was not Muslim”
2. back in April a a guy in Washington State killed his son and 4 daughters because his wife was leaving him.
Point is that you have screwed up people in all states, countries, cultures who would use whatever excuse to justify the killing of another human.

To Mike Shaun and VerSad; I totally agree, religion is a tool, like any tool it can be used for good or bad. It is the person using the tool that makes the decision. On that last point is where it goes wrong for some religous types. Since those that obey the religous ‘law’ will carry out the will of their god or whatever interpretation of that is. Most freethinkers would never be in that situation, as we reason and rationalise, religion in any form requires you as a pre-requisite to be irrational and believe without questioning.

You must understand that when a man/women/child goes OTT, takes an axe and kills the whole family, there is no doubt in their – or any one else’s – mind that what they have done is insane and illegal.
Unfortunately, lots of countries in the world today consider killing the [mainly female] members of your family ‘Justifiable Homocide’ when they do it in the name of Islam.
So this is often given as the reason – in order to obtain a shorter sentence or maybe just a small fine – for littering the streets.
Then, when it fails to work here in the west, they start shouting things like Islamophobia and racism and other irrelevances.

I used too work with Noor at Chipotle mexican gril… She was always affraid of her father. She once told me that she thought her family was going to kiddnap her and take her back to iraq and kill her there. I offerd her to go camping with us and she said she would love to go with us. Then one day we were working the line and she got a text and she went too the restroom to chek it and she came out crying. I later on asked her if she is ok? she told me thet her family is being meen to her and threatening her. She broke the right rear view mirror on her moms kia mini van on accident and i tryed to help her fix it and she was freeking out cuz she knew she was going to get it when she got home. Her family would stock her and sit in the parking lot waiting hours till she got off work.It was freeking me out cuz i thaught to my self they are going to kill all of us… i wanted to quit Chipotle for that reason alone… I fell i love with Noors personality. She was a beautifull inside and out. She never judged anyone she was always filled with love and joy she would laugh at my stupid jokes and she loved my corky dancing. I loved to see her smile because she had a pritty one and the most beautifull eyes you ever seen.I regret not reaching out to her. me and noor were good friends at work. she always told me that she did not want to follow in her familys foot steps cuz she knew it was wrong. i told her this is america and she did not have to marry any one that she did not want to. i told her to enjoy our freedom of religion while it lasts cuz when the new world order takes over that right will end. She was longing to know the true god. and i told her to just pray and when you do ask in your prayer to send gods people to you. and then you will know in your heart who it realy is… she is now in gods memory and she will soon walk with him.till then REST IN PEACE NOOR… Your safe now.

I AM a considerate, open minded human being. Thats why I hate islam and everything about it. You cannot be a decent human being and want to kill your daughter because she has a mind of her own. His religion was very much to blame. Islam is barbaric. It’s as simple as that. The sooner it’s gotten rid of the better for us all.

She had to be old enough to have run off to a shelter. Why did you not tell her so and help her get away?? This brings in another point about the religious, they give crappy advice because they are locked into the system that says OBEY and pray..
In some cases nothing helps. Me and my wife tried to help a woman who complained about the husband, we told her of the options and how to get help. But she was so locked in to the problem that she could not just say WTF and leave. To make it plain….helping can be tricky and difficult. The fathers actions are NOT her fault. The killing IS NOT her fault. But her inability to say WTF and leave did contribute to the death. People must learn hopefully thru good parents, or thru school or TV, or friends to grow and deal with REALITY not to some fiction invented by stone age goat herders.
PARENTS are AS they DO not some arbitrary stone age rule.

Please turn the father loose. Yes release him from jail to lead a normal life again. However short that may be.
