RIGHT now there are more questions than answers regarding the massacre of 13 American soldiers at America’s biggest army base, Fort Hood, by Muslim maniac Nidal Malik Hasan, 39.
But what we DO know is this: the gunman shouted “Allahu Akbar!” (the Arabic for “God is Great”) before opening fire on his victims, which clearly suggests a strongly religious dimension to the murderous attack.

We also know that Islam has scant regard for human life. It is more institutionalised madness; insanity writ large, than a mere religion – and further proof of this was provided this week when Islamists in southern Somalia stoned a man to death for adultery, but “mercifully” spared his pregnant girlfriend – until after she gives birth.
Abas Hussein Abdirahman, 33, was killed in front of a crowd of some 300 people in the port town of Merka.
An official from the al-Shabab group said the woman would be slaughtered after she has had her baby.
This is the third time Muslims have stoned a person to death for adultery in the past year. And last year A 13-year-old girl was stoned to death for adultery in the southern town of Kismayo.
Al-Shabab official Sheikh Suldan Aala Mohamed said Abdirahman had confessed to adultery before an Islamic court.
I could not help but to snort with derision when the BBC reported that the President of this basketcase of a country – Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed– had accused al-Shabab of:
Spoiling the image of Islam by killing people and harassing women.
Spoiling Islam’s image? For pity’s sake! Islam is death-centred from the first page of the Koran to the very last, and the world-view of its adherents is so out of kilter with anything approaching civilised behaviour that it is far beyond reform; it needs to be crushed before it drags the entire world into an orgy of blood-letting.
One commentator on the NowPublic blog – YankeeJim – summed it up well when he wrote:
Is there really a mystery about what happened at Ft Hood? The trouble begins with a religion that has intolerance, hate, and mistreatment at its core. Members can snap at any time and justify their actions in the name of their faith. One might ask, could you not say the same thing about Christian, Jewish, or any religious extremists? The answer is yes, however, the Muslim creed is rooted in notions that are irreversibly intolerant and therefore perpetuate people being misfits in modern society.
This irreconcilable difference manifests under conditions ranging from extreme as in the case of a Muslim Army Major Psychiatrist being activated to duty in the Middle East, to Washington Beltway sniper John Allen Muhammad who felt mistreated by society for many reasons including experience in the military.
While America harbors the belief that religions must be tolerated, I don’t believe that all religions are equal with respect to their degree of alignment with American values of liberty and justice for all. Is it possible that Islam is out of step with American values? If so, is it possible that not all religions are worthy of equal protection under the law when the religion itself is outside the law?
One final example of how madly, truly, deeply insane Islam can be comes in the form of this YouTube video, showing an Egyptian cleric extolling the virtues of the “black-eyed, spitting virgins” who await martyrs in paradise. He also suggests that bullets, bombs and swords will feel like “angel’s kisses” to the blessed martyrs.
UPDATE: The Sunday Telegraph reports that Hassan had links to the 9/11 terrorists. There is also an illuminating piece over at The Examiner entitled Murder at Ft Hood: the act of a crazy man or an act of terrorism?

The Freethinker was founded in 1881 by GW Foote, an outspoken critic of religion. After the publication of

Truly sickening video.
Black-eyed virgins?
Even in paradise their poor womenfolk get a beating.

Islam is a wonderful religion!!!
It allows Xtains to be seen in a SLIGHTLY better light.

The mad psychiatrist might have snapped, but it seems he did so rather slowly. It’s reported that before he went on his killing spree, he emptied his fridge and gave the food away to his neighbours – along with copies of the koran. So I think that makes it premeditated murder.

I don’t suppose many people can stand to watch that video of rants all the way through, but it might be instructive to jump towards the end. There, at about 7 mins, the character on screen at the time says “I’m not saying you should slaughter your sons or tie them up” then “These are nice things but it is even nicer to teach our children to hate the enemies.” Failing which, it would seem, you’d better get on and (nicely of course) slaughter your children instead. Charming.

What’s a maniac? And how do you know this shooter is one?

good post Barry

What a truly disgusting video. What can you say to something like this. Thanks for the post Barry.

Excellent post Barry. I watched the video part way through because I couldn’t stand it anymore.
This latest islam inspired murdering spree adds to the case against allowing religious fundamentalists into the armed forces or indeed any position of power. People for whom religion is the controlling force in their lives should not be trusted in positions of power yet alone given guns. We have catholic priests in positions of authority abusing young boys and christian fundie teachers filling childrens’ heads with creationism and other nonsense in our schools. Even our Government has a disproportionate number of religious types [compared to the population] pushing their vile agenda. How many 5th columnists “sleepers” do we have in our armed forces and public institutions?

@Charles: maybe he isn’t a maniac. On reflection, he’s probably possessed by jinn. http://www.islam-qa.com/en/ref/73412

I fully understand to impulse to find all Muslims absolutely intractable; that any one of them, at any given time could go off like this. I know it’s not true, but it’s hard to resist that fleeting instant of stormy rage that drives one to wish we could wipe them out and be done with the problem once and for all. Fortunately, in most of us it really is just that fleeting, good sense rushing in before we can even lift our hands to act.

If someone makes a mistake , should we blame his/her country !
Don’t you call for freedom of action ?
Yes , I say it without hesitation.
Your way of thinking belongs to you … leading to your actions
I do agree that some people – called extremists – are using any doctrine in the way they were nurtured …. right
correct me if I’m not – ( bad childhood for example )
Then I don’t blame the doctrine / country / club / party / family for a bad repulsive inhuman cruel action done by one of its members.
Again One does a bad deed , on the other hand there are millions who live peacefully among others with different ideology(s).
Please don’t be misled by personal judgments.
Thanks

I notice all these muslim clerics take care to stay alive themselves. One would think that if paradise is so attractive they’d act on their own advice pdq.

So, Mike Shaun, your inchorent screed basically breaks down into a ‘No True Scotsman’ fallacy.
Let me draw your attention to the words of Steven Weinberg:
“With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things; but for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.”
See how it works?

quedula –
There was a great Private Eye cartoon about that (Mullah handing a bomb to a young boy):
“I’d love to be going with you, but I’m needed here on earth”
November 8th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
Mohammed did the same thing – waited for a woman to give birth before killing her for so called adultery. Savage bastard. No surprise then, Muslims today do the same thing when they reverse the paedophile murderer.
November 8th, 2009 at 8:26 pm
Mike Shaun, I do not think anyone here is blaming a Country. Islam is a doctrine of total submission with an “if you are not with us you are against us” mentality. Islam also has quasi-imperialism at its core, just look at the recent colonisation of Europe. True, there may be a few moderate muslims but in the eyes of their peers they are not proper muslims.
The Private Eye cartoon was excellent; I wonder if they’ve had beardy rent a mob outside their offices.

To some extent I agree with Mikespeir, how many ordinary Muslims agree with these people’s idiotic rantings, as one of the comments said, “anyone who believes this stuff has to be fucked in the head”.
In the UK at least it appears that the idiotic ravings of Mr. Chowdary have urged moderate Muslims to come out and state their support of free speech and one law for all. I have great respect for them due to the fact that they are running the risk of being murdered by the Choudarys of this country.
Why is it assumed that every suicide bomber’s dream date is some sweet little innocent in a schoolgirl uniform? My first sexual encounter was ten years older than me and somewhat more experienced. I rather think that was a good thing, it certainly felt like it at the time.
