Propriety is in part defined by context. An elegant and flattering evening gown is proper at a dance, nightclub, party or other similar kinds of public places. It would hardly be proper when she arrives at work in a business office.

The largest part of the meaning of the quote from Timothy pertains to women who use immodest dress for seduction or vanity. Merely dressing to look good is no offense to God, unless the motivation is. In the end, that applies to thousands of other moral issues as well. The same thing can be right or wrong if the motivation for it is right or wrong.

how does this make her a hypocrite? did she speak out against sex tapes and/or masturbation? or is it that whenever anyone who says they are a christian sins, they are being hypocritical? what about bill clinton, who claimed to be a religious man? he sinned, then lied about it, was he a lying hypocrite? of course not, because he’s a liberal, and since liberals have no morals, they are not held to any kind of moral standard. that’s only for members of the hypocritical religious right.

And if you think I hate Homos, I do have a few friends who are gay, I get along with them because they don’t try to push their lifestyle in other peoples face. If you want to be gay, So What. I just don’t need it being taught that “it’s OK” to my kids. My family and I have a right to live in this world without being hit on by gay people or to have their lifestyle forced into every aspect of everything I see or hear. SO if you want to live a homosexual lifestyle, keep it to yourself and life like a normal person, not a “special priviledges” person.
