Actually -Stonyground- I think that is what they want. When the cross is picked on then other groups will join in and hopefully there will be enough pressure applied to get the other symbols included giving them a toe in. Nothing like secular opposition to get the various hate groups together.

I think that if I had to play the role of Solomon here, I would give them a choice between no icons or everybody's icons and put it to the vote. It would need a bit of thought to decide how many followers worldwide you would have to demonstrate to have your icon recognised as representing a major world religion, but I would establish an approved list of maybe twenty, who gets included is irrelevant to making the point. The point being that Christians being the majority religion in these countries have no problem with forcing their icon on minorities. If in order to do so they had to agree to have nineteen other people's icons forced upon them they might just get it and choose the no icons route. And if they chose the other route, they would have the problem of their kids asking awkward questions about what all these other religions are and why ours is so special.
