IN a further bid to stoke up intolerance of Muslims in the UK, party-boy-turned-Islamic hate preacher, Anjem Choudary, 42, has vowed to press on with plans to hold an Islam for the UK march through the town of Wootton Bassett. Islam for the UK is a branch of the fanatical Al-Muhajiroun group.

Anjem Choudary

Speaking today on Radio 4, the lunatic defended his plans and admitted he had chosen Wootton Bassett because it would attract maximum attention.

The procession is not about the people in Wootton Bassett and never was about that. It is not against them personally. It is to highlight the real cost of the war in Afghanistan. The sad reality of the situation is that if we were to hold it somewhere else it would not have the media attention it has now.

Choudary said he did not accept UN figures which show that most innocent Muslim civilians killed in Afghanistan are the victims of the Muslim Taliban, and not the American and British forces.

He added that he wanted people to know the truth about “the quagmire and cycle of death in Afghanistan” and wanted Britain to pull its troops out.

He said a date has not yet been set for the march, but he plans to approach police and the local authorities to organise one.

A Facebook site dedicated to preventing the march has already attracted over 120,000 members.

Choudary has stated his reasons for the march in an open letter on his website.

It is worth reminding those who are still not blinded by the media propaganda that Afghanistan is not a British Town near Wootton Basset (sic) but rather Muslim land which no one has the right to occupy, with a Muslim population who do not deserve their innocent men, women and children to be killed for political mileage and for the greedy interests of the oppressive US and UK regimes.

He added:

The procession in Wootton Basset is therefore an attempt to engage the British publics minds on the real reasons why their soldiers are returning home in body bags and the real cost of the war.

The former lawyer explained that the march was being held ”not in memory of the occupying and merciless British military” but of the Muslims he says have been ”murdered in the name of democracy and freedom”.

The event – if permitted by police – will be a peaceful one, with ”symbolic coffins” being carried to honour Muslim victims of the conflict.

Hundreds of people line the market town’s High Street regularly to watch servicemen’s bodies being driven through from RAF Lyneham.

Ex-mayor and councillor Chris Wannell said of the idea:

We don’t do what we do at Wootton Bassett for any political reason at all, but to pay our respects to those who have given their lives for our freedom.

North Wiltshire MP James Gray added that the thousands who appear on the roadside at Wootton would not be drawn into political conflict with the group.

They will say, ‘these are foolish people making a silly point – we’ll get on with our ordinary lives thank you’. The people of Wootton Bassett are decent, quiet, pragmatic people and they’ll stay at home instead (of reacting to the march).

Wiltshire Police said they were aware of the ”significant community concern” caused by the proposal. A spokeswoman said the force would have to approve details before permitting the march and may even prohibit it.

Setting out its purpose, the Facebook group which opposes the march said it had been set up to:

Stop the proposed March by Islam4Uk extremists through the town of Wootton Bassett. The Highway for Heroes and wonderful people of WB do not deserve this march to happen.  This group can march anywhere it wishes in the country but have chosen to cause outrage and offence.

Some postings suggest blocking the roads or writing to local councillors, while others take a more strident line. One contributor said simply:

I want my England back.

In this report, the Telegraph says that moderate Muslim groups have urged the police to stop the protest to prevent a backlash against British Muslims by right-wing British extremist groups.

Shahid Murasaleen, from London-based Minhaj-ul-Quran International UK, said:

These kind of extremists do not represent the British Muslims. This march will achieve nothing other than to incite hate crime against innocent law-abiding British Muslims.

  1. So why doesn’t the hateful Choudary and his chums go and march in Afghanistan if they are so concerned. He whines about the infidels being on muslim land but forgets that both he and his mates are occupying our non-muslim land and exploiting our benefits system.
This march should not proceed because every extremist nutter from left and right will congregate in Wootton Bassett for a punch up with the Police being caught in the middle.

  2. I am still waiting for the predicted “backlash against British Muslims”; Maybe with a legal ban on oppression?

  3. It’s odd the number of Muslims who want to come and live in the West, where they are so oppressed and maltreated, when they could be living in lovely Muslim countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia, where no Muslim is ever hurt by another, or even spoken to in a harsh voice.

After all, they do keep comparing themselves to the Jews in the Third Reich. Yet I can’t seem to recall a flood of Jewish folk rushing to Germany from 1933 onwards. In fact, if memory serves the general trend was rather the other way.

Of course, what I’ve just written is appallingly ‘Islamophobic’, because it points to the staggering hypocrisy of violent religious bigots who just happen to be brown skinned.

Oh, and I hope the people of Wootton Bassett follow the example of the old soldiers when the Emperor of Japan visited us, and simply line the streets and then silently turn their backs on the jihadi tosspots.

  4. I was amused to hear on the news that the marchers said that they had a right to demonstrate.
I wonder if they know how lucky they are. Also I wonder if they got their way and we were all forced to live their Bronze Age ideal that they would still have the right to demonstrate against the government and armed forces!

These are people who expect to force islamification upon all of us and without any hint of shame can witter about their personal freedom on the BBC news.

They believe the hate preachers when they tell them British soldiers are murderers and rapists and say that everyone else is naive for believing that the muslim extremists who are killing British soldiers with crude but powerful home-made bombs in public places are somehow not killing any civilians!

It’s just not safe to bring out your irony meter at all these days!

  5. As I lie here coughing in bed, forced to take a rare sick day when I would rather be at work, I would like to ask if anybody knows whether Choudary is a taxpayer yet or if he is still happily sponging every penny* of his living from us oppressive Westerners? The very people that this protest is aimed at are probably the ones funding it.

    * Just to be clear, I have no grudge against most people on benefits due to the economic crisis and staff culls everywhere, but I think it is fair to say that prolific Islamic extremists have little to no intention of coming off them.

  6. If I lived anywhere near WB, I would get as many pig products to throw at these desert dwelling bastards and I urge others to do so!

  7. @neil I think that if you did that the police would arrest you for religiously aggravate assault; a super-soaker full of pigs blood would be right out too….

It is ironic that Choudray is cynically exploiting the deaths of actual, innocent, Muslims to forward his ludicrous desire to turn the UK into an Islamic republic – Of course this is never going to happen, but should this march go ahead, it will dramatically increase his standing in the lunatic community.

Personally I think if we give the guy enought rope he will hang himself, he’s sailing close to the wind when it comes to glorifying terrorism if what I have read is accurate, a couple of ill advised comments on TV might just tip the balance in favour of prosecution.

  8. Just on the BBC, *apparently* the home secretary has said that if islam4uk insist on this march then he will ban it, as ‘the idea fills him with revulsion’ – not because it is a shit-fest waiting to happen…

  9. The PM has chipped in now, saying the idea of the march is appalling.

If it does get banned I smell a court case….

  10. It won’t take place for some time anyway.

Anjem Choudary = O June March Day!

  11. They have the right to demonstrate. Let them. Just ignore them; it’s the attention they want, and people getting angry at them is attention.

They *want* to be hated and maligned and shouted at, because to them, that proves their point. And that’s how a lot of young muslims will see it; they won’t see a bunch of hateful people doing something stupid and getting shouted at for it, they’ll see a lot of racist, anti-muslim english folk throwing things at muslims who are peacefully demonstrating.

So let them do it. Don’t pay attention. The angrier you get, the happier they get, because it’s what they want.

  12. I used to teach at Wootton Bassett, which was a wonderfully friendly little town, and so I’m not in the least surprised at the reaction of its inhabitants to events taking place there. However, could we just take a look at the other side of the coin here for one moment, please? According to newspaper reports, the actions of the would-be Yemeni suicide bomber may have been sparked by the fact that, shortly before Christmas, Nobel Peace Prize-Winner Barack Obama launched Cruise Missile raids in The Yemen in an attempt to kill suspected terrorist leaders, succeeding only in killing many innocent people, including women and children. What the point of these raids are I have no idea, because even when the targets are eliminated there are many others only too ready to take their place, as the Jews can well testify! These are just plain acts of revenge, and only add fuel to the fires of international terrorism. The “suicide bomber” was an intelligent young man, not an ignorant peasant, and, if we are to stand any chance of re-educating such people, we in the West need to stop doing the very things which are recruiting new blood to the ranks of the fanatics. Someone, somewhere, mentioned the oft-reported fact that Tom Lehrer said that he had given up satire when they awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to Henry “Let’s Bomb Cambodia” Kissinger! Maybe Kissinger is now advising Obama!!

  13. I agree with Me (nothing new there then!). I think the march should be allowed to go ahead, firstly to show these ignorant fascists up for what they really are, and, secondly, so as not to lend weight to their argument that they are a “persecuted, victimized, vilified minority” in this country. And if there is a counter-demonstration, then it should be left entirely to Muslims, as there are enough moderate British Muslims who are totally sick of Choudary and his ilk to produce a Muslim counter-demonstration which would send a clear message to impressionable youngsters that the views of this man are totally unacceptable.

  14. I’d be inclined to let the protest happen as well, providing that it can be safely policed; in a sense the extremists win if they force us to curtail their human rights as citizens of this country – it’s a sad situation, but in my opinion there is no possibility of any positive outcome from these events, but there is the risk of great harm if the situation is handled without very careful consideration.

  15. It is very interesting to see that this lunatic thinks that Afghanistan is a “Muslim land which no one has the right to occupy”. I take it, then, that he would be in favour of foreign Muslim influences being removed from the country as well?

  16. @barriejohn I think, although I may be wrong, that these nuts favour the idea of a theocratic Islamic superstate.

  17. Am I right in saying that the Nobel prizes came about because of a mistaken obituary to the inventor of dynamite? I think that it was Nobel’s brother that had actually died but Nobel was left with the realisation that inventing dynamite was all he would be remembered for. So, being very rich due to having invented dynamite, he came up with the Nobel prizes as a way to be remembered for something more positive. On the whole it would seem that his plan has been a huge success with the exception of the peace prize which has been given to some very undeserving individuals, Mother Theresa for example.

  18. At least these depressing nutjobs usually can’t help but give us at least one thing to dryly chuckle about; in this case Choudary ranting that Afghanistan is Muslim land that ‘nobody has the right to occupy’. So says the mouthpiece of Islam4UK – presumably he believes that Muslims still have every ‘right’ to take over Britain!

  19. I agree with a couple of previous comments. The best way to handle the demo is for no counter demo to be organised and residents of Wooton Basset to stay out of town on the day. Those that have to be in town should simply turn their backs when the demo passes them.

  20. It would be nice if there was some consistency over the spelling of Wootton Bassett here! It’s not only Choudary who is having problems!!

  21. Let’s hope the good people of Wooten Basset aren’t moved to give Mr Choudary and his marchers something to put in their “empty coffins”!

I don’t believe there will be a march. I think this crafty cleric has achieved his goal simply by means of suggestion.

Free speech is not a licence to do as one pleases. Clearly this abuse of the right to protest by selecting a venue synonymous with the repatriation of our country’s war dead will, quite rightly I think, be met with anger and disgust by the majority. Even the otherwise politically indifferent have been roused from their fences to voice their dissatisfaction.

No doubt we will shortly have the clamour of imams rushing to distance themselves publicly (if not privately) from this maveric Muslim and his extremist followers. Where will it all end?

  22. Come on barriejohn, moderate British muslims, an oxymoron surely. The moderates are too scared to speak out for fear of vilification by the rest of their community. Muslims are always muslims first and whatever nationality second.

  23. Sooo true, they have come to occupy our lands and speak of their religion as the one and only true one. To turn our lands into their ideals of Islam!!

  24. There are plenty of moderate Muslims: whether they are “true Muslims” or not is quite another thing! I know that when I was an evangelical Christian I would not have considered Rowan Williams to have been a Christian by any stretch of the imagination – like the fundamentalist Muslims, to be a true believer meant accepting every word of the Holy Book as being divinely inspired and incapable of any non-literal interpretation. You can see why I found it impossible to continue in “the faith”!!

  25. As our government is too weak to stand up to stuff like this, it only pushes people into following idiots like the BNP. A lose/lose situation.

  26. I think the best course of action would be for us all to ignore them, but that just isn’t going to happen.

  27. The loathsome chowdry is generating alot of online counterjihadists. Win win. Scuttlebutt on the edl messageboards is islam4uk is going to be prevented from entering w b with ‘extreme prejudice’. Cant wait.

  28. The line…plans to hold an Islam for the UK march … is wrong, he is trying to see if he has enough power to continue the islamic take over of england at least in a slow steady progression.
In the US or England how many chinese still wear the 12th century clothes??? Now how many of the islamics still wear their 12th century clothes???? They are NOT assimilating INTO our culture when they move here, they are bringing their culture here and trying to get our rules changed to accept them, i.e. swimming areas to allow burkas.
But they are doing nothing different then the xtians did. Did the xtians try to assimilate into native culture?? NO!! they crammed the xtian culture down everyone’s throat. Did the xtians assimilate into the Hawaiian culture??? NO!!!! they crammed the xtian BS down everyone’s throat. Now the islam is doing it to the xtians, bet they don’t like it much!

  29. Police fear ban on Islamic extremists’ march will inflame protests
    http://www.independent.co.uk/n.....59001.html

“Yesterday Sir Hugh Orde, the president of the Association of Chief Police Officers, said that a ban could inflame tensions, any decision to do so would surprise him, and people had “a right to march”. He said: “It can be the case that if you ban something it becomes more popular to turn up to. You then have a mass unlawful protest.”"
    ***
So now the police are falling out with the politicians, that chowdry must be laughing his arse off!

  30. He’s right, @rog. The sight of all these politicians clamouring to show themselves “right on” makes me sick! They are scrabbling around trying to find grounds to ban the march, and even if they do, what will that achieve? Thousands of Muslims are going to feel aggrieved, and there will then be even more of them descending on Wootton Bassett, determined to press ahead with their “demonstration” in any case. The police are then in a lose, lose situation. Either they stop the march, in which case the ensuing scenes will give these fanatics the oxygen of publicity which they so crave, or they stand idly by and hand them victory on a plate!

  31. You really do suck, barriejohn. You can’t just ignore Muslims like you can every other religion:that’s the whole point.Muslims are interested in the comfort and progression of Muslims and nothing else.
It is beyond my comprehension that people still don’t get this.
Is there a civilised country on this planet where Muslims don’t try this shit on? Why is it so hard for people to understand that this pox of a death cult has an agenda? We humour them at our own peril. It is that simple.Somewhere along the track a line has to be drawn.
Our hard fought tolerance should not extend to a grisly intolerance that thinks the entire evolution of Western culture is nothing more than an infidel aberration that needs to be overcome.
    Fuck them and fuck you.

  32. Oh, thanks, @funkybarfly. And best wishes to you, too!

  33. @funkybarfly, Is that language & unpleasant sentiment really necessary?

Humour me, how would you handle the issue of vocal/militant Islam in the UK?

  34. @funkybarfly – a bit out of order there! No call for that.

  35. This was reported on the news feed:

  36. @ barrijohn,rog and tony e:
I apologize for the sailor talk and I will even go so far as to apologize for the tone of my comment. It was unbecoming.
I stand by the gist of my comment, though.
Islam has to be considered in light of its actions ,not in the fog of its meaningless words.Islam represents an assault on freedom(most particularly the freedom of women)that pales all the other faiths by comparison.
Mohammadists have designs on a world order abhorrent to all that is good about humanity. No other religion should be sullied by association;even by passing comment.

    Yours Faithfully,funkybarfly.Atheist.
