MUSLIMS in Egypt have been warned not to use Koranic verses and the call to prayer as ringtones.

'Jesus Christ! Is that a Koranic ringtone I hear before me?'
Egypt’s highest religious legal authority, Mufti Ali Gomaa, said today that anyone answering a phone armed with such a ringtone would effectively be interrupting Allah.
The numpty declared:
Putting the Holy Koran or the call to prayer as a mobile phone ringtone trivialises the sanctity of the verses, which are for prayer, invocation and recitation and not to be taken out of their legitimate use.
Gomaa added that, when answering a cellphone, the user interrupts the holy words of God, which could confuse their meaning and misdirect the listener.
Verses from the Koran have become popular as ringtones in Egypt, and websites and television channels advertise them for downloading.
Gomaa’s pronouncement came just days after Gambia unveiled a Muslim phone which instructs it owners precisely when to pray.

The best laid schemes etc……….. You have to laugh. There are all these men – must be men – putting dotty verses on their phones and thinking, “What a great idea.” Then the mullah nutter says, “All change. Remove them.”
Is there anything these guys don’t want to control? Answers on the back of a postage stamp – you will have lots of room to spare.

Funny, isn’t it, that first they’re in trouble for trivialising it yet when they interrupt it they’re risking confusing something important. Two sins for the price of one, what a bargain!

Surely the solution is to let the phone ring, then you won’t be interrupting “God”. You can always ring back the person who rang you, assuming they haven’t got a “Koranic ring-tone” and can’t pick up either…

A phone that instructs you when to pray? What happened to just setting a reminder that repeats? I think this god ringtone turmoil will blow over, it’s just a fad and something for people to moan about.
