A BUNCH of students at the Aligarh Muslim University in Lucknow forced the suspension of a professor after filming him having sex with a rickshaw puller.
Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, reader and chairman of Modern Indian Languages at AMU, was on the verge of retirement when some students set up cameras to catch him having consensual sex with a rickshaw-puller in his campus home. They then sent the video film to university authorities.

In the absence of a picture of the unfortunate professor, here is a shot of a rickshaw-puller working under monsoon conditions in India
Siras now says he won’t challenge his suspension and will voluntarily leave.
But The Times of India report that Siras had been exposed by students is curiously at odds with a statement made by AMU public relations officer Rahat Abrar, who said:
Dr Siras lived in a house allotted to him in the medical colony on the AMU campus. On February 8, he was home in the company of a young rickshaw-puller from Jamalpur area of the town. Since the door was open, two reporters from a local TV channel barged into the house and filmed him and his companion. The video clippings were then sent to AMU authorities who were constrained to proceed against Siras.
He added:
Siras was captured on camera having sex with a rickshaw-puller. It’s a scandal that no institution of repute can overlook. Therefore he was placed under suspension on February 9 by the order of the VC, Prof P K Abdul Azis.
Siras was served a memo on February 9 by the office of the AMU registrar, Dr V K Abdul Jalil, under rule 403-C of the statute of the university, after a prima facie case of “gross misconduct’” was made out against him.
Amid swirling tales of his “sordid” sexual preferences, Siras was quietly packing his bags. Talking to TOI over phone, he said he refused to contest the charges before any enquiry committee.
Let them say what they want to. I am not going to offer any clarification. You don’t have to abuse back if someone abuses you. I am already on the verge of retirement and, therefore, would rather be gone than to stretch the issue.

Cruel, very cruel.
The guy was in his own home and should have been left in peace. If he were younger he may have fought this as he had committed no “crime” and embarrassed the university. I hope this doesn’t affect his pension.
When I was at college there were always rumours about the staff:
So and so is gay.
So and so is an alky.
So and so screws his/her students (lectures always well attended).
etc. etc.
Never thought to hire a camera and make a documentary for HTV Wales.

I think I had sex with that Rick Shaw on one occasion.
Seriously, this is none of their fucking business, is it? I don’t suppose his conduct was against the law, but merely caused “outrage” amongst those sensitive Muslim souls again!

If my cabby thinks I’m kinda cute, and we arrive at my home, if the girl wants to taste my cucumber, who the hell’s business is it? If I want to plant a zukini in her hershey highway, whose business is it? What the fuck, freethinkers? Why is our sexual preferences a matter of discussion?

@NeoWolfe: It is a Muslim institution, and happened on their property, so although it’s outrageous they are probably within their rights (legally, if not morally) to sack him!

This shameful act should be condemned by everyone, irrespective of their differences either cultural/economical, just like the entire of bangladesh condemned and punished a Muslim teacher for indulging in Homosexual act with his students.

@ Surya, this man was not having sex with a pupil, so there was nothing shameful about it, and therefore there are no grounds for condemning him. Those who should be condemned are the ones who exposed him.

I am very late in seeing this post, but there are certain clarifications and updates that it needs. I am an ex-student of Aligarh Muslim University, now studying at LSE.
1) Sadly, Prof Siras was found dead on the 8th of April in his home under mysterious circumstances. Investigations are being carried out to ascertain the cause of his death, the police says it might be a case of suicide.
Now some other things –
2) AMU is not a minority institution, it is a central university.
3) And thus, AMU runs by the law of the land. India decriminalised homosexuality last year and thus, Prof Siras’ suspension was illegal and unjust. He could not be booked even if he was having sex with a pupil, as long as it’s consensual.
Some minor points –
4) AMU is not in Lucknow, but in Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh (north India).
5) This picture of a rickshaw puller would not go with this story because rickshaws are somewhat different in UP, this pic is from Kolkata..just to let you know.
MOST IMPORTANTLY THERE IS A PETITION BEING SIGNED ONLINE IN SUPPORT OF PROF SIRAS, DEMANDING ACTION AGAINST AMU. PLEASE SIGN IT IF YOU FEEL WHAT HAPPENED WAS UNJUST – http://www.petitiononline.com/.....ition.html
