AS of this morning, over 10,000 people have signed the Westminster Declaration, which Andrew Brown, in The Guardian on Monday, described as:
A fairly coherent right-wing bloc in British Christianity. It is nationalist, socially conservative, suspicious of markets, critical of Islam, authoritarian … but what distinguishes it from Ukip, or even the BNP, is that it has a large and powerful black membership. The figureheads of the movement are two retired Anglican bishops, Lord Carey, who used to be archbishop of Canterbury and still carries on as if he ought to be, and Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, who resigned last year as bishop of Rochester.

Brown pointed out that:
The programme of the new group is obviously influenced by the American culture wars. It is resolutely anti-abortion (‘We pledge to work to protect the life of every human being from conception to its natural end’) and homophobic (‘We pledge to support marriage – the lifelong, covenantal union of one man and one woman as husband and wife. We believe it is divinely ordained, the only context for sexual intercourse’).
That the signatories intend defying equality legislation is made clear by this statement:
We refuse to submit to any edict forcing us to equate any other form of sexual partnership with marriage … We will not be intimidated by any cultural or political power into silence or acquiescence and we will reject measures that seek to over-rule our Christian consciences or to restrict our freedoms to express Christian beliefs, or to worship and obey God.
Commented Brown:
It’s not clear what any of this posturing actually means in practice. But emotionally, it’s quite clear. Christians in Britain are to behave as a persecuted minority, avid for injustice, watching the papers eagerly for signs that some other group is getting special treatment.
This seems to me a dangerous development, but one that will be enormously hard to stop. A culture of resentment grows naturally in hard economic times. The old self-assurance of the established church could guard against such a thing, but that’s lacking even in the Church of England now, and certainly going outside it.
What we’re seeing here is the growth of Christianity as a player in multicultural politics, competing as a tribal identity for group privileges. It’s ironic that the most prominent signatories of the declaration would regard “multiculturalism” as a thoroughly bad thing. I suspect that in the next few years, they will be showing us its bad side in ways that no one has up till now suspected.
The Westminster Declaration does not say which political party is most likely to accommodate the demands of its supporters, but help is at hand from that savvy political pundit, Stephen “Birdshit” Green, who advises True Christiansâ„¢ against voting for any of the three main parties:

Stephen 'Birdshit" Green (Photo Barry Duke)
To start with, each of them is fundamentally secularist and pro-gay. Atheist Nick Clegg, David Cameron with his pro-sodomy kitchen cabinet and the anti-family Gordon Brown have gone out of their way in the last three months to court the perverted vote. Clegg and Cameron were interviewed in turn for ‘Attitude’ magazine then Brown hosted a party at No10 for ‘Schools Out’. In the process, all three told decent people not to vote for them or their parties.
The “pro-sodomy kitchen cabinet line” cracked me up, as it did Andrew King, over at the Downed Robin blog, who wrote:
I saw one of those pro-sodomy kitchen cabinets last time I was in Ikea. I think it had a birch veneer, was called Sven, and was in an open relationship with a bookcase named Billy.
“Birdshit” added:
Next, each is pro-EU, favouring that bastion of Antichrist which refused to put God into its constitution and is now pressing hard Europe-wide for policies enforcing ‘equality and diversity’. Not one of the three main parties is pro-life, although individual members may be. And each is stupidly pro-Islam, not seeing that Islam is not just Antichrist, denying His divinity, His incarnation and His resurrection, but anti-secularist as well.
So that leaves the Christian People’s Alliance, the English Democrats, and finally:
The Christian Party which is gearing up to fight 120 seats nationwide, including the Western Isles, Barking and Dagenham. In Barking its leader George Hargreaves goes head to head with the BNP’s Nick Griffin trying to unseat the minister for child abuse, Labour’s pro-abortion, pro-gay, pro-blasphemy, anti-Christian Margaret Hodge. They are a party Christians can support as they honour the Lord Jesus Christ as King of kings.

Superstitious, repellent and, most important, ill read and semi-literate nutters.
April 8th, 2010 at 11:12 am
And not very tech-aware. I just added the name of the late, unlamented Herr Hitler to the list of signatories with no problem.
April 8th, 2010 at 11:12 am
Haha, “Birdshit” is an absolute loon, isn’t he? How can people think/talk/act like that in the 21ST CENTURY?
April 8th, 2010 at 11:28 am
Christian conscience: contradiction in terms. Given half a chance these dumbfucks would have me, as an atheist, on the medieval rack followed by thumbscrews and a flogging. This is not hyperbole. They do want back to this. We know; you don’t. And we will make you know.
They seem to have strong anti muslim views which will no doubt be reciprocated. Pity we could put the lot in Wembley Stadium, let them pray to the Imaginary Fairy God, give them weapons and say sort it out. Your god will ensure you win.
All procedes from door takings, televison payments, newspaper and photograph rights to the NSS.

I am not the gay!
April 8th, 2010 at 11:47 am
@shargraves. Not only that, they do this cruel, ignorant and biggoted things with no sense of either guilt or shame. Worse, these dumbfucks are proud of their ignorance and prejudice. Like in the Tennessee Scopes Trial back in 1925 when the vain moron who wanted Scopes punished said, “We do not need science. Read the bible and there is more scientific knowledge there than is possessed by all the scientists in America.”
Clarence Darrow ripped this clown apart to such an extent that Tennessee was the laughing stock of the USA: a major embarrassment.
I wrote “back” to 1925. Thinking about it, they were ahead of us. H.L. Mencken was writing his reports which had the USA laughing at these clowns. There nonsense was daily held up to the country to be ridiculed. What have we got here in the UK? Religious preachers treated with reverence; the BBC banning sceptical opinions while flooding all their channels with religious bullshit; no questioning of their views in a public forum; all buddies together.
April 8th, 2010 at 11:49 am
This is all very dispiriting. Seems like the UK gets more like the USA all the time. Same religious nonsense, same dire stupidity, same wilful ignorance……the world needs you guys as an opposite to the USA not as a clone

Twats, the lot of them. Signed mine Joe Stalin

As I recall Carey was the last Arch of Cant directly chosen by a politician (Thatcher) against the candidate selected by Lambeth. Prime ministers since have gone with tradition and either ‘recommended’ to Her Madgeness the church’s own choice or the alternate offered as a token choice.
Funny how all these geezers who have never been chosen as politicians – even by their own congregations – and oppose every move for all UK politicians to be popularly elected feel quite free to tell us iggerunt commoners how to vote!
I wouldn’t be fooled either by the implicit suggestion that black speakers means multi-racial support or anti-racist sentiment. Some of these guys have allies abroad who are outright old school fascists by anybody’s standards.

Charles Manson has just given his endorsment
April 8th, 2010 at 12:39 pm
Another bunch of nuts yearning for the 10th century. Too bad this kind of delusion doesn’t include some kind of fatal disease like they used to have in their ‘good old days’, so all we would have to do is wait a while and bury them. Am I being cruel now?
And as after-thought: just like some of the followers of the Religion of Peace, these people don’t seem be to aware of the death-cult in their holy book; life isn’t sacred in it at all. Not even the lives of the unborn.
April 8th, 2010 at 12:46 pm
i think we may have actully fout an organisation that is worse then the BNP (other then builderberg, obviously)!
April 8th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
I expect that some retards may vote for some other retards who will lose their deposits.
Why don’t these vile people come clean and state what they really seek: a theocratic dictatorship. Human rights, reason, equality and fairness are not something these religious nutters tolerate.
We must fight and damage this scum.
April 8th, 2010 at 1:16 pm
Joseph Stalin, Lavrenti Beria, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin and Leon Trotsky have all signed-up….just noticed that Stalin has signed it twice- the cheeky little monkey..
April 8th, 2010 at 1:35 pm
Now isn’it just childish to bombard this petiton with fake names? Anjem Choudray and Saddam Hussien have also signed up
April 8th, 2010 at 2:14 pm
Childish is their aim. These people just refuse to grow up, because that would entail recognizing the rights of others not to believe their bullshit.
April 8th, 2010 at 2:16 pm
Yeah. I feel really guilty about starting the whole thing. Oh, i feel a joint signing by Fred and Rose West is in order…
April 8th, 2010 at 2:16 pm
They have cleaned up the petition but do not seem to have removed Anjem Choudray or Myra Hindley
April 8th, 2010 at 2:21 pm
Mad Daily Mail Reader is still there… Wonder if they dare remove a few faintly Islamic names…
April 8th, 2010 at 2:34 pm
Out of idle interest, to whom is this absurd petition to be delivered? Surely Brown, Cameron & the other chap (what is he called? Answers on a postcard…) are too busy to give a toss.
I see Nick Griffin has given it the thumbs up. As has a certain Sr. Porco Dio from Italy… Seems their knowledge of basic Italian cursing is limited, too.

UKIP is nasty. The twin delusions of nationalism and racism is at the heart of their policies. They are also anti women. Never forgotten that UKIP story on TV: “Why does a woman need legs?” asks a UKIP clown already elected to the European Parliament. (Never slow to fill their pockets while “working for change.”)
Answer: “To walk from the kitchen to the bedroom.”
I protested to the BBC but they refused a public statement. Said it was an error of judgement to broadcast it. I asked the BBC producer if he had no wife or female partner; no daughters; must have a mother etc. The other comment from that UKIP waster was that these days women forgot to clean behind the cooker.
The idea that these pro religion, nationalist, anti women, anti gay, pro royals, anti Europe dumfucks are taking people in with their “policies” is sickening. You would be hard put to place a sheet of paper between them and the BNP.
April 8th, 2010 at 4:07 pm
Cleaned up? Julian Clary is still on there and Isaac Asimov just signed up.
April 8th, 2010 at 4:28 pm
Can’t trust these commies, yanno!
April 8th, 2010 at 4:58 pm
The item you describe as anti-abortion (‘We pledge to work to protect the life of every human being from conception to its natural end’) is surely a declaration of pacifism.
It also contradicts many of God’s own commandments – including, for example, those it Leviticus xx, 9-12.
April 8th, 2010 at 5:14 pm
Is anybody representing the views of us secularists in the election? They’d get my vote no bother.
April 8th, 2010 at 5:36 pm
Problem is that these clowns could actually split the anti-BNP vote in some key constituencies. They could well end up getting Griffin into Westminster.
April 8th, 2010 at 5:53 pm
Couldn’t help it – I signed as God The Sky Fairy
April 8th, 2010 at 6:27 pm
Has Eugène Terreblanche signed up yet?
April 8th, 2010 at 7:05 pm
Yep Mr I.M.AFUNDIEBIGOT from Turtleneckjumper Stloserville just signed it too, as sid his alterego Pope Palpatine
April 8th, 2010 at 7:08 pm
Has anybody realised that as soon as you put your name in, it goes on the home page? The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah band have reformed, btw.
April 8th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
I did see the bonzos had signed it top marks. ive had my childish fun for today i think.
April 8th, 2010 at 8:21 pm
Ronnie Kray and Satan were recent signatories when I last looked.
By the way, I was only blogging the other month that if the Christian Party put up a candidate it would have to be in Barking….didn’t think the daft buggers would take that seriously!
April 8th, 2010 at 8:31 pm
The threadhead quoted A. Brown:
“I suspect that in the next few years, they will be showing us its bad side in ways that no one has up till now suspected.”
I suspect he’s right. As the vise closes, and these far right fundamentalists are squeezed out of relevence, they will take to the streets with pitchforks and axes. Thereby, bringing the loving kindness of the lord to us with the edge of a bloody blade. It’s a tried and true, centuries long tradition.

April 8th, 2010 at 10:08 pm
So, who here added “Greggs The Bakers”?
I give you 11/10 for that one!
April 8th, 2010 at 10:08 pm
Woohoo!!! Thanks fellow freethinkers!! Until this was posted on your site I had’nt heard about this…but now that I have, I am able to contact as many people both here and around the globe who are fellow believers to join the group!!! EVEN been talking to a devout muslim who believes Christians are getting a hard time at mo (personally I do not believe that)and he thinks muslims should stand by Christians!!! lol Well that is a miracle indeed, can only be positive. I do believe you guys have got your work cut out for you now!! (and as for signing false names, pretty childish don’t you think??) Oh and yeah, maybe, maybe Cameron gets my vote..been a life long socialist!! (another turn!!!) I believe in MIRACLES!!!!
April 8th, 2010 at 10:11 pm
Ron Jeremy is still there
April 8th, 2010 at 10:22 pm

THE MORE NAMES YOU PUT ON THE LIST… THE MORE NAMES ARE ACTUALLY ON THE LIST… THANKS FELLOW FRIENDS… =D
April 8th, 2010 at 11:14 pm
Why do fundie imbeciles always have to SHOUT?
April 8th, 2010 at 11:24 pm
You could have ten million names on the list, but no one’s going to take any notice of it!
April 8th, 2010 at 11:37 pm
@barriejohn…actually Barrie you are quite right, the battle is not in the flesh, it is spiritual…and God has handed time to the other side for now…we are about to enter a time of judgement on a worldwide scale…to those that don’t believe enjoy while it lasts…to those that doubt, think again, to those that do believe, examine your lives…I hope we can keep this communication open coz as much we disagree, it should not make us enemies??? Anyways night and GB all….
April 8th, 2010 at 11:53 pm
They were telling me the same fairy stories in the 1950s Les, so you’re not going to convince me now. What a load of codswallop – piss off to some other site with your nonsense, please!
April 8th, 2010 at 11:55 pm
I see Leslie has been swigging the turps again. And what is it with these micro-encephalitic loons and punctuating everything in threes? Ellipses, question marks, exclamation marks, etc., by the armful but rarely an apostrophe.
Broadsword, my cap is doffed to you, sir!
April 9th, 2010 at 12:12 am
This “time of judgment” that the poor imbecile is talking about was actually supposed to have occurred two thousand years ago!
“Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled”.
Matthew’s, Mark’s AND Luke’s Gospel contain this same so-called promise of Jesus!!
April 9th, 2010 at 12:40 am
Barryjohn,
GET OUT OF MY MIND!!!! I was reading that doomsday shit, and that was exactly what came to mind. Calamity howlers in every generation have declared the “last days” are upon us!!! LOL Well bring it on!!! When brought to judgement before the throne of god, I just need enough strength to flip him the bird and say, “go fuck yourself”.

Even in the 1950s and 1960s the Plymouth Brethren were saying (though it is, of course, a “sin” to try to predict the day of Christ’s return) that earthquakes, wars, disasters, civil unrest and so on were increasing at a pace, and that this was proof, if proof were needed, that the great event was indeed imminent! People like Billy Graham were saying in the 1970s that America was ungovernable, and that society was about to break down completely, and my Christian friends would proudly announce “It’s just as He said it would be”, yet here we are today, still toddling along merrily, and yet they expect us to swallow the same old story: “The coming of the Lord draweth nigh” – hahahahahahaha!!!!!
April 9th, 2010 at 8:19 am
Whoever is cleaning up the petition have not ousted the name of a single “adult performer” added so far.
April 9th, 2010 at 2:29 pm
Broadsword: Maybe, in the light of recent Catholic shenanigans, those “adult performers” really ARE evangelical Christians, and their votes are genuine! Did that possibility never cross your mind?

I see Roger Altarboyes has joined the campaign

“…but what distinguishes it from Ukip, or even the BNP…”
Talking about UKIP, why has Pat Condell shacked up with a party full of ex tories, and global warming denier, and all round lunatic Lord Monckton?
Joining a party full of irrational right wing nut jobs is an epic fail by Condell. They’re just a step removed from the BNP.
