THE Muslim Association of Sweden is demanding an apology from the right-wing, anti-immigration SkÃ¥ne Party after the appearance in Malmo of posters showing the “prophet” Mohammed bare-arsed naked.
According to this report, their protest follows Christian rage expressed in Germany over the way Jesus was portrayed in the cover of the satirical magazine, Titanic.
The Muslim Association’s leader Mahmoud Aldebe trumpeted:
The party’s posters are hate speech. The SkÃ¥ne Party is a small, isolated, terrorist sect which should be banned from participating in the fall elections.
The caption on the poster reads
Mohammed with wife, he’s 53, she’s 9. Is this the type of marriage we want to see in SkÃ¥ne?
Carl P Herslow, head of the Skåne Party, defended the posters, saying:
We’re attacking Islam, not people who believe in Islam. We consider Islam to be a very dangerous and psycho-social infectious disease.
Earlier in the week, according to Mediawatchwatch, the Titanic cover prompted more than one hundred complaints to the German Press Council from readers. The magazine’s amusing commentary on the Catholic church scandals also drew two further complaints to the Frankfurt Public Ministry, claiming “incitement to hatred”.
Titanic’s editor Leo Fischer is remaining calm in the face of the storm:

I like the second image better than the first. I like my blasphemy with a little more humor. But I think the first image points out the problem of saying your leader is infallible. It leads to the justification of some pretty horrible things. Mohammed lived today in any western society, he would be arrested for child abuse.

Oh dear my irony meter just broke… again… I can only assume they are sneering with the ‘small isolated terrorist sect’ comment, seeing as they are themselves part of a large active terrorist sect no?
So what part is hate speech exactly? They obviously cannot deny this picture displays something they consider factually correct according to their big book of fairy tales?
