LABOUR may have taken a drubbing in the General Election, but candidates standing for the Christian Party and the Christian Peoples Alliance were utterly humiliated.

In Barking, for example, Britain’s highest profile Christian candidate, the lunatic Rev George Hargreaves, managed to attract a paltry 482 votes. With 1.1 percent of the vote, he limped in an ignominious 6th. In third place was far-right British National Party leader Nick Griffin, who polled 6,620 votes.

Racist homophobe Rev Robert West

The most successful Christian candidate – the Rev Robert West, representing the BNP in Lincoln – attracted 3 percent of the vote, and lost his deposit.

A total of 1,367 dipsticks voted for this thoroughly nasty piece of work, who in the run-up to the election, outraged homosexuals, and many more besides, by branding civil partnerships as:

Perv partnerships which are an abomination in the sight of God and must be ended.

West, founder of a demented outfit called the Christian Council of Britain, went further, labelling the LGBT community as “dirty and disgusting” and “utterly perverted”. He also branded the recently introduced Equality Act as:

An act of hideous sexual perversion.

According to this report, police could be asked to launch a “hate campaign” probe against West following his comments in response to questions put to a number of political candidates by the Leicester LGBT Centre.

Leicester LGBT Centre support officer, Dennis Bradley, was appalled by the comments from Rev West:

We have gay police officers who have looked at his words and believe there are grounds for it being a hate campaign.

Bradley has called on Rev West to immediately retract his comments.

West has an interesting view on racism too.

On his website, West is flogging a leaflet headed Racism is not what you have been told. Below is an extract from this piss-poor piece of propaganda:

  1. I really hope the police don’t decide to prosecute or launch an investigation. Far better to just take the piss out of his failures and poisonous wrath; that would get up the nose of the likes of the wicked twat of the West far more than giving him a chance to play freedom of speech victim.

  2. You couldn’t make it up, could you – God created countries!

This is what Wikipedia has to say about the idiot:

Taking its name directly in imitation of the Muslim Council of Britain, the Christian Council of Britain was set up by British Christians of various denominations with assistance from members and supporters of the BNP in April 2006. BNP web editor Steve Blake who runs an IT consultancy registered the URL christiancouncil.org.uk on behalf of the CCB and provided a basic template for the fledgling organisation’s website. The Observer reported on April 16, 2006 that Clive Potter, another member of the BNP was to be the president of the CCB. Robert West, a former Conservative district councillor and a founding member of the Christian Council of Britain defected to the BNP in May 2006.

Although non-denominational the CCB has adopted reformed Protestant Christianity as its official doctrinal basis. It has identified the main challenges to the existence of a Christian national identity to be Islam and political correctness. The CCB is opposed to female ordination and leadership and the ordination of gay men. The Council believes that there is a ‘godly importance of race and nation’ and ‘especially’ welcomes white British Christians into membership of the organisation.

The Christian Council of Britain has been criticised by a number of mainstream British Christian organisations who claim that ‘Christian belief is incompatible with any political party or philosophy that is based on hatred or treats people as inferior because of their race, beliefs or for any other reason’ and argues against the CCB’s theological views on separation of races.

  3. West seems to regard his behaviour as “decent, normal and reasonable.” His comments seem to me to be “vicious, abnormal and irrational.” Who is his boss? Shouldn’t they be saying something about his raving?

I mentioned, quite gently, to a fundie acquaintance the low, low votes for the christian parties where christian was mentioned in their literature. I think I said something along the lines of, “You didn’t do too well, did you?”

She soon put me right. “We did really well. This is a Christian country and all the main Parties are run on christian values by devout christians.” Nick Clegg might be surprised to hear that.

  4. We all know that “proper” xians don’t like gays, that shouldn’t surprise anyone.
What I find shocking is Wests biblical justification for racism.
He’s that very nasty blend of right-wing politics, racism and bigotry we’re more used to seeing in the US. He was asked by the BBC last year which church he belonged to and was evasive, as if his title was a sham. Have a look here:
    http://www.ekklesia.co.uk/blog.....obert_west
And Hargreaves, a black man representing the BNP. You couldn’t make it up could you? If he debased himself any further he’d be the star turn on the Black and White minstrel show. Nick Griffin would love it.

  5. ‘It has identified the main challenges to the existence of a Christian national identity to be Islam and political correctness’.

A religion which breeds belief that suicide bombings, acid attacks, and public stoning, hanging and flogging help to better the world. The horror!

A strand of leftism that attempts to level the playing field for those who aren’t white heterosexual Christian males. The horror!

  6. Broadsword, Hargreaves did not represent the BNP. He was the Christian Party candidate. Pretty much the same agenda, but a different name.

  7. Ta Barry

That’s what happens when you squint at a PDA screen instead of a proper PC.

  8. Robert West was quoted in the threadhead as saying of the Equality Act:

“An act of hideous sexual perversion.”

Shit!!! I hope he’s wrong. Otherwise, I spent my life missing out on the GOOD STUFF!!! Do you think he’d think less of me if I confessed that I mourned the loss of a donkey show when a hard drive crashed? Oh, wait!!! I suddenly realized I don’t give a fuck. :-)

  9. Well, if there were Olympics for bigoted hypocrisy he would win a gold medal. It’s like when Archie Bunker on All in the Family justified spewing cigar smoke in people’s face by saying that it says in the Bible that God created everything so he must have created tobacco for us to smoke. So there! Good old Bible. Always there to back you up, eh? But when his daughter suggested that we should then have the right to smoke marijuana his reply was that the Mexicans had invented marijuana so that’s why it’s illegal. That may be a comedy but these sanctimonious ass-hole hypocrites who use the Bible to justify all their prejudices aren’t comedies ….well, that’s debatable when I listen to some of these American evangelists…..but they think exactly the same way. The pox on the whole lot of them and may they rot in their cesspools!!

  10. Do you all (British readers of this blog) remember that episode of Til Death Us Do Part where Alf Garnett was holding forth about his love of foreigners (“I’ve fought with them: I’ve worked with them”, and so on), only for Dandy Nicholls to deliver this brilliant line in her own inimitable way: “Course there’s nothing wrong with foreigners – as long as there’s foreign countries for them to live in”!

  11. I love this.
The more hate-mongering, frothing at the mouth and general idiocy that comes from these people, the more people will be turned off christianity by it.
The more crap they come out with the better. I wonder if they could be persuaded to condemn the England football team like the BNP did in 2002? http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/.....ike-us.php
With the tide of football about to break over England I think that could have a very enlightening effect!

  12. I’ve struggled over this all day, what to say in response? At the risk of being a bit pointless:
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA………………………

  13. Excuse me going off-topic here please, but it’s my …th birthday today, and I have just opened the usual clutch of cards from my christian “friends”, exhorting me to “return to the Lord”, etc (really brightens my day, that does!), and amongst the messages is one reminding me that, “judging from the state of things” the Lord’s return SURELY cannot be far away now. They’ve been saying the self-same thing since the Fifties (and before, of course). Can you believe it?

  14. Well of course the problem isn’t that people don’t want to vote for the xtian candidate, it is just that satan has given them other candidates to vote for and has distracted them!

  15. The fundies are too stupid to realise that most people in the UK don’t care about religion – apart from when the fundies interfere in ordinary peoples’ lives. The christian parties poor showing in the polls is encouraging but I’m a bit worried that there are now 13 muzzie MPs; it will be interesting to see how vocal these are in condemning the muzzie fundies.

  16. Happy Birthday Barriejohn – I’m amused and entertained by those vile bigots losing their deposits left right and centre. (mainly right of course)

End-times freaks – who lust after obliteration – are the sickest folk I’ve ever encountered. The fact that society has never been more advanced, medically technologically, with falling crime rates, more people going into university etc. seems to pass them by.

Surely being in london during the blitz, or in the trenches in WWI was being in a far worse “state of things” than merely having a general election, with an undecided electorate?

    F*cking idiots!

There’s one thing that the electorate massively agreed on though of course – racists and homophobic sicko’s need not bother standing. Unless they want a graphic demonstration of just how redundant and unwelcome they are in society.

  17. Bjohn said:

“judging from the state of things” the Lord’s return SURELY cannot be far away now.”

Oh, indeed!!! How must it have appeared to the Europeans during the Black Plague? More than one out of three died, and at it’s worst, the flagulators decided that the plague was all the Jew’s fault, and proceeded to massacre every Jew they could find.

I’d put up a smiley face, but, it’s not funny. The simple truth is that the calamity howlers don’t have the slightest concept of what real human suffering is, yet… no matter where you go in history, there is some religious wacko saying, “the signs prove these are the end of days”.

But, except for those in denial, every Bible scholar knows that Jesus promised that his present generation would not pass away until all his prophecies were realized (Matthew 24:34). BUT!!!! since that didn’t happen, he must have meant something else?!?! So, every generation since has had a select set of wackos that were sure the time had finally arrived.

I’m tired, can I go to sleep now? Set my alarm for Armegedon.

  18. I am still meeting people who stick to the Daily Mail line that immigration was the big issue in this election, but that no one dared mention it! If that was truly the case, how come the racist parties fared so badly?

  19. the “demented outfit called the Christian Council of Britain” has not said anything that the “demented outfit called the Muslim Council of Britain” hasn’t already said – and a lot more rudely.

Anybody claiming to be ‘fulfilling god’s will’ rather than the will of the electorate should not receive any votes. Indeed, I wonder if they should actually be allowed to stand for election?

  20. @barriejohn. Happy birthday. The return of the Lord has been awaited for 2000 years. Because his return was imminent – like next week – Origen (I think it was he) cut his balls off as he figured his suffering was strictly temporary. Similar sacrices were made as they did not have long to wait till they were “off.” Trouble is, if you stand on tiptoe waiting to be kissed as long as they have then you are going to overbalance.

  21. Barriejohn, happy birthday, make sure that the only ‘spirits’ that you may encounter are the 70% proof type.

  22. Happy Xth birthday, Barriejohn.

Angela, I think lots of them are only too aware of the lack of interest in religion, which is why they obsessively try to portray certain groups as public enemies. One’s enemy’s enemy is one’s friend, and all that.

  23. Yeah, Barrie, happy birthday – but here’s a sobering thought: each passing year brings you closer to the day when you will require the services of a “luggage lifter”.

But hey, we both know a man who can point you in the right direction should you ever need a manly touch on your Louis Vuittons.

Here’s my birthday gift to you:

  24. Barriejohn: happy birthday, may you confound religiots for many years to come.

“the holy bible is quite clear….” – really? My recollection of the “old testament” is that a country wasn’t a place for people of a tribe or race to live in, it was a piece of land to be stolen at the point of the sword and all people already living there to be massacred in accordance with the will of that thoroughly nasty and disgusting ywh. Often he also wanted all the livestock and crops destroyed. Doesn’t seem to me that he was okay with the idea of separate countries for separate tribes or races.

  25. Happy Birthday Barriejohn. I’ve just had a sneaky look at your present from Barry Duke, I think you’re gonna love it.

  26. Barriejohn, a very happy birthday to you! Mine is on Saturday – groan!

  27. Thanks for all the birthday congratulations! (I’ll be posting a list of suitable presents available from the John Lewis Partnership, later in the day, so keep your eyes peeled.)

Barry: You’re only as old as the man you feel!!

  28. Belatedly.

    Happy birthday Barrie John.
Go to Swansea and do the “Mumbles Mile”.

  29. I’m thrilled to see the religious and racist based parties fared so badly. I would not have been surprised if the current climate of economic doom boosted support for extremists, so it’s nice to see that generally hasn’t been the case. I’m sure those still of a religious bent will just see this as further proof their parties are necessary and of society’s decline, once they stop pretending it didn’t happen, but if leaving bigotry, hatred and authoritarianism is a decline, let’s get sliding.

    And Happy Birthday, Barrie John.

  30. According to the BBC News site, the BNP lost 26 of their 45 local council seats, and UKIP lost 5 of their 13. Not only a measure of how decadent our society has become, though, but of just how effectively the media have poisoned the minds of the gullible, ignorant electorate!

  31. I have never visited Swansea, but my intuition tells me that the Mumbles Mile might well involve visiting a number of hostelries – am I right?

  32. I watched Nick Griffin being interviewed and he very quickly tied himself in so many knots, he makes up “policy” as he goes along, that Houdini would have struggled to escape.

As for UKIP, long known as the last refuge of the Tory Headbangers, their fantasies were due to be punctured and the needle was big and painful. Watching Nigel Farange peering in bemusement out of the wreckage of that plane like a rat in a hole, and his legs up round his head, was the sight of the day. It all got funnier when Nigel announced that he would watch the results from hospital, anticipating I assume with UKIP’s usual paranoid fantasies, that a triumph was on the way.

  33. Spot-on Barrie John.

If it’s low tide at midnight we’ll drag you through the mud in the marina, buy you a sweaty kebab and organise a punch-up at the taxi rank. Losing all bowel control in the taxi home is optional.

Or you might just have a quiet pint…….

  34. You certainly know how to enjoy yourselves down in Wales, Broadsword!

  35. Barrie John

Treat yourself to a long weekend………

  36. Would your list include, perhaps, a matching set of luggage, Barrie?

  37. “…for being both decent, normal and reasonable.”

Says both and then lists three things? That reminds me of something

“Our main weapon is fear, fear and surprise. Our TWO main weapons etc..”

I didn’t expect the spanish inquisition!

LOL! Monty Python is STILL being funny 40+ years later :o )

  38. I do have plenty of suitcases in my loft, Barry, like most people. In fact I have a suspicion that they actually multiply up there! The assistance of a good-looking young guy to help me “lift them” in and out of the loft would certainly be much appreciated on occasions, especially if he had to remove his shirt in the process. I was wondering, however, whether your sex shop supplies gift lists, as you no doubt stock many items that would appeal. (I never did get that “Naked Boys Singing” DVD that I was so impressed by!)

  39. WordPress has more disappearing messages than letters to Santa Claus.

  40. so … i see you all can spew your hatred-filled words towards christians and their beliefs and it’s okay … it’s not considered a hate-crime. hmmm, no double standard going on here, eh?
