A SMOOTH-TALKING , charismatic “holy man” who claimed to possess healing powers and an “organic penis” has been found guilty of rape and indecent assault.

Michael Lyons aka Monan Singh

“Guru” Michael Lyons aka Monan Singh, 51, wore flowing robes, drove expensive cars and flew around the world boasting of links to the Dalai Lama, a court in London heard.

Passing himself off as a “spiritual leader” the colourful charlatan duped women into believing he was a healer who could help them.

But, according to this report, after gaining their trust, Lyons raped one woman and sexually assaulted another.

He was described in court as a “sexual predator” who used his harem of apparently respectable female devotees to recruit his targets.

Wood Green Crown court was told that one of his victims was a receptionist and aspiring actress in her 30s, who was raped in June 2002.

She went back to Lyons’s flat in Belsize Park, north London, after a friend had made introductions.

He wafted fumes from a burning frying pan around her and mumbled spiritual mantras before giving her a massage and raping her in a bedroom.

The second victim, a 43-year-old teacher, was assaulted in January 2005 after attending what she thought was to be a chiropractic treatment.

She travelled from the north to London after her lodger introduced her to Lyons. He drove her to a flat in a Bentley before indecently assaulting her in a bedroom.

Lyons was cleared of a further three rapes against different women.

The jury is still deliberating on one charge of rape and a further count of sexual assault.

There is much more on Singh here and here.

  1. If all Michael Lyons had done was charm his way into the knickers of some gullible ladies I’d have been jealous. His strike rate would have been acceptable without coaxing them into his bedroom for rape. It must all have been about power and domination, not sex. He’s just a predator.

As for having an “organic penis”, anything else would be called a strap-on.

  2. While being aware that it is very out of order to blame the victims in cases like this, does this guy not have ‘charleton who will take advantage of you and nick all of your money’ practically written across his forehead? There are no excuses for what he did but hells bells ladies, a self styled guru in a kaftan claiming to have healing powers and an organic penis, did it not occur to you that he might be a bit of a fibber?

  3. Oh, I thought it was one that folded up!

  4. Wow what a fucking creep

doesn’t matter how many of these charges he gets found guilty of he’ll only do a few years and then be released into society again after a slap on the wrist which is what most rapists and peadoscum get these days.

  5. Well, Stonyground, I don’t think the Beatles’ guru had that wording on his forehead either but it didn’t stop them from being taken for mugs.

  6. Sounds very familiar; I remember reading about this ‘priest’ who could help women spiritually by applying a special, vaginal balm. Want to guess what instrument he used?

  7. Stoneyground, there are always going to be a few nitwits who gravitate towards blatant charlatans because they consider themselves so amazingly open-minded, and/or because they’re kneejerk contrarians (“all these closed-minded types think he’s a fraud, ergo there must be something to him”). In a vaguely similar vein, there seems to be a particular type of daft middle-class woman who is fascinated by the Dalai Lama. Just as well he keeps his pants on.

  8. AngieRS, I could I suppose cut the Beatles a little slack in that they were just a bunch of working class lads from Liverpool and that the con man in a kaftan was a novelty then. Surely they have been around long enough by now for everyone to recognise them for what they are.

This subject leads me to a book recommendation, The Devil’s Party, a history of Charlatan Messiahs by Colin Wilson. I suspect that it would be a good book to give to anyone who was in danger of being conned by one of these types.

  9. Let’s just take that organic penis away from him.

  10. UPDATE: Michael Lyons aka Mohan Singh was sentenced to ten years in jail and a lifetime ban on physically touching any woman he hasn’t known for at least six months. Which actually means very little as he’ll just skip the country after he gets released. From looking at the Rick Ross victim support forum linked in the article, it seems there are dozens if not scores of women he has assaulted in America.

Maybe with him behind bars his all girl following will be able to unfuck their heads and realise the terrible things they helped him do to other women.
According to the BBC, he took pains to avoid being filmed all through the trial and…
“After making enquiries the BBC was told that Lyons, who is a Jamaican-born black man, had had clothes and make-up smuggled into the court and left either as a white man, or white woman.”

Another libel-tastic thing I’d like to point out; Singh/Lions was photographed with Stephen Seagal and reportedly name dropped him as a friend all the time. Seagal was also in the news recently with now mysteriously dismissed claims that he trafficked and sexually harassed women. Just sayin’.

I’m suprised none of the Osho II brigade haven’t sockpuppeted to his defence here actually, they seem a touchy bunch of rapemonkeys.
