A GROUP of young Catholics has invoked the wrath of senior clergy in Mallorca by producing a calendar that features a nude version of the passion of Christ.

The calendar features a semi-naked trio of young men raising the cross on which Jesus is to be crucified, and a Last Supper scene in which young men wear only skimpy briefs. In other shots the models are entirely naked, covering their naughty bits with plumed Roman helmets.
The calendar was the brainchild of the Davallament youth group from the Spanish island’s town of Sant Joan. They decided to make the stripped-down version of the Easter week story to raise funds.
Group member Antoni Company said:
It is a daring and original idea that emerged because we are young and wanted to do something new.
The bishopric of Mallorca, however, has criticised them for shocking their more traditional elders.
In a written admonition, it thundered:
It turns Easter week into something banal. It does not respect Christian symbols and is insensitive to Catholic feelings.
The calendar marks the 20th anniversary of the Davallament Youth Association, one of whose principal tasks is to act out the passion of Christ in a fully-clothed version every Easter.
Said Pep Mas, the group’s co-ordinator:
It all came from the need to celebrate our 20th anniversary. The actors are the same people who take part in the Easter week representation, and the pictures are shot in the same places. I don’t think, after all these years, that anyone can doubt our dedication.
The town’s mayor, Joan Magro, approves.
The calender is very original. The pictures are artistic and the models show what they have.
The town’s priest, Joan Marti, refused to be drawn.
They are grown up enough to know what they are doing and what it all means.

I am insensitive to Catholic feelings, and so are many people, for the reason Buffy suggested. They have never been sensitive to the feelings of others, particularly those whom they wrong themselves, and have historically and currently have far more of a care for the feelings of sex abusers than their victims, not even being sure that paedophilic assaults were ‘a moral evil’ until as recently as the 1970s. Here are some comments that I have come across on other sites:
1. The subject group of this article will disband within 5 years. And most of the ‘models’ will suffer from depression well into their 40′s. That is, even should they turn to the Lord. Actions have consequences and sexual actions have significant consequences which could last a lifetime.
2. Sexual addiction is not something to mess with. It has lasting mental effects that most people are not strong enough to deal with.
3. And where does it end?
Pretty soon someone will be shooting a pornographic movie to raise funds for some church activity.
But of course, all in good taste.

I suppose I would be THE expert on the subject. I didn’t mean to be vague.
