JUST a day before she was found dead in a bath, singer Whitney Houston, 48, performed Yes Jesus Loves Me at Tru nightclub in Hollywood.

Whitney Houston (August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012)
According to the Christian Post, Houston – who attained the full Christian Monty by attending a Pentacostal Church and a Catholic high school after being raised a Baptist – came over all “spiritual” in the days before her death, telling friends about her passionate desire to “see Jesus”.
Hours before her demise, she was discussing a Bible passage involving John the Baptist and Jesus with a friend.
Afterwards, she again stated:
You know he’s so cool … I really want to see that Jesus.
What can one say,’cept: Be careful of what you wish for.

“You know he’s so cool … I really want to see that Jesus”
Bye-bye, Whitney. The living organism that was you, the one that existed only because it could undergo metabolism, maintain homeostasis, possess a capacity to grow, respond to stimuli, reproduce and, through natural selection, adapt to its environment in successive generations, is, sadly, no more.
But, there’ll be no Jesus with his Caucasion beard and Bee-Gees hair-do, girl. No pearly gates. No St Peter. No terrible and vindictive god. No hell to fear. You were nothing since the beginning of time, you briefly experienced this wonderful, incredible thing called life, and now you’ve gone back to the state you were in before. Nothing to worry about. Nothing has changed.
In the words of the late, great Kurt Vonnegut, ‘So it goes.’
Hmmm. Sorry that someone who was lucky enough to do what they enjoyed most for a living – has killed themselves with their own indulgences.
I wouldn’t bet against her seeing jebus in he final moments – by all accounts it was high grade shit she was on.
Sad for her family and fans I guess – no need to gloat really… In some way she can be admired for the most annoying song of all time.
I much prefer the music of Cannibal Corpse in all honesty. Far more subtle, nuanced, musical, and, well, just so lyrically and intellectually superior.
Yes, I know the cause of death hasn’t been firmly established yet. But, come on! How recently do you have to have been born not to see it? Jesus, apparently, wasn’t getting the job done for her, was he?
Another believer who was a frenzied ball of contradictions.
Drugs and Religion, either one is bad enough and the combination is lethal. I’m sure there’ll be lots of references to God’s plan at her funeral. Wouldn’t be surprised there’ll be mention of Whitney joining the ‘Heavenly Choir’ or some such bull-shit.
Wow, I expected better off this website that this disgusting gloat over a woman’s death. Whoever wrote this should be ashamed with themselves for writing such a grossly inappropriate article. No wonder people think us atheists are pricks. If I was a theist, I’d think the same if I saw this.
Now we know how she died, Jesus killed her. Oh wait Jesus is a myth and what killed her was the years of drug abuse that sadly ended her life at the age of 48. Religion is the ultimate drug at the end of the day. Poor woman, if she didn’t have those problems she would still be alive.
Not usually one to gripe, but…
Of course her belief in the magic carpenter was absurd. Goes without saying. But since when did we start sniping at people who, as far as I’m aware, not inflict their damn beliefs on others.
No, I’m not a fan. Yes, she was deluded, poor cow. But it seems mean-spirited in the extreme to mock an otherwise harmless individual solely for their religious inclination.
Should read “did not inflict” of course.
Well said, AgentCormac.
So she’s been a Baptist, a Pentacostalist, and a Catholic. And judging by Barry’s previous story she’s probably just become a Mormon too.
Dont the Pentecostals drink poison and play with deadly snakes? Too bad they dont practice with prescription drugs washed down with alcohol.
RIP Whitney…shame
So Why didn’t the great cloud god save her from her drug abuse? I’m sure she preyed for his/her/its help…and as usual, she was let down.
She is now just another statistic of the overindulgent rock crowd, atheists included.
What can one say,’cept: Be careful of what you wish for.
That is really uncalled for. Do you want to imply that she deserved what she got because you interpret what she said as indicative of a belief? This is not one ounce better than Christians delighting in the deaths of atheists/agnostics/other heretics because we aren’t careful what we “wish” for, too (i.e. hell).
Reminds me of the alleged WC Fields quote. Looking for loopholes
There’s really no need to pounce on the fact that Houston was religious and mock her like this. Yes, she destroyed herself with drugs despite being a Christian, but as far as we know she didn’t hypocritically bleat on about having superior morals because of her religion. The “see that Jesus” quote was probably nothing but the brain-fried babble of a tragic individual once at the top of their game, then broken beyond repair.
When you smoke crack, you see Jesus, then you come down, and see the Devil.
Then you realize it’s all a figment of your imagination and your willpower
