An independent Texas will execute gays

An independent Texas will execute gays

LARRY Secede Kilgore needs all the help he can get to become the next governor of Texas – and he has even asked gay voters to support his key gubernatorial ambition of seceding from the US, and heading a country that will introduce biblically-based laws, including the death penalty for homosexuality.

The crazy Kilgore, a devout Christian who changed his middle name to Secede last year, explained here that he was determined to make Texas its own country so that it no longer needed to pay oppressive taxes to the US Federal Government. But to do so he needs a large coalition of supporters that would include the LGBTI community.

I am a Christian, and I have lots of Christian beliefs. However, I am trying to build a coalition of all different types of people. I look at the lesbians and the homosexual folks and I say, ‘Hey, DC is stealing my money just like they’re stealing your money’. After we get our freedom, then we can decide all that stuff — hopefully at a county level.

“All that stuff?” Well, the plan is that “biblical laws” will be introduced. But not immediately. Once Texas gets independence, Kilgore will step down, then seek re-election on a platform that would include the death penalty for homosexuality.

Larry Secede Kilgore said:

Right now, lesbians and homosexuals and Christians may have differences with each other, but we’ve got a bigger enemy. The only position I have is secession. In my gubernatorial run, it’s secession only, and I want to build a bridge with all different kinds of folks.

In 2007, in the lead-up to his bid for the US Senate Kilgore, told the Houston Chronicle that he supported the death penalty for adultery with a married woman and flogging for people who used profanity in public. Transvestites would be flogged even more severely.

He’s since had a rethink and said flogging transvestites was no longer part of his agenda. But:

I would very much approve of a biblical law that prevented homosexual behavior in the new nation. According to the Bible, it should be execution, if anyone participates in that activity.

Kilgore said he was open to the idea of different areas of Texas having different laws on homosexuality and would support candidates who were gay as long as they wanted to make Texas its own country.

If there was a homosexual running that was a secessionist, I would support him.

Kilgore last ran for governor of Texas in 2006 where he received nearly 8 percent of the vote – coming second behind Texas Governor Rick Perry, who also happens to be a rabid homophobe.

In 2011, Perry, in his bid for the presidency, promised voters that he would “end Obama’s war on religion” and:

Fight against liberal attacks on our religious heritage.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a Christian, but you don’t need to be in the pew every Sunday to know there’s something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can’t openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school.

All of this, plus the extract below from the Facebook page of Jobs in Benidorm & Surrounding Areas, prompts me to ask: is everyone it Texas cracked?

So when he wins, and starts executing people in his ‘free state of Texas,’ how is he different from Perry? Oh, right, this Gov will refuse all federal funds for roads, schools, infrastructure, healthcare for seniors, police and fire, border patrol, and the myriad of things our dollars help pay for. Women will no doubt lose the vote, as will minorities and gays. OK then. Someone look at his campaign page and see how he intends to pay for all of this, because I assume he against ALL taxes, not just federal ones. Come on, God, surely there are some Republicans in Texas with working brains…one?

  2. Caute says:

Oh dearie dearie me…. The USA is really heading towards oblivion if it can incubate dangerous fundamentalist idiots such as this.

  3. sailor1031 says:

Please, please, please……and take Arizona with you. Maybe Mississippi and Alabama too? Louisiana? Oklahoma? Tennessee? Come on – put somethin’ on me son I’m in a dealin’ mood!!

  4. L.Long says:

The sad part is that a large number of the people who don’t get in the newspapers or on TV don’t feel this way. They know it would be horrendous to Texas for this to happen. Just look at any country that is basically a theocracy and does not have oil, they are corrupt, people are the poorest, life is miserable.
Theocracy is just another word for ‘awful dictatorship controlled by Aholes that are hearing voices from an invisible non-existent sky-fairy.’

  5. Barry Duke says:

Biblical laws? That would, of course include stoning, so this odd fish – Kilgore Trout? – will get the Muslims solidly behind him.

The Islamic Republic of Texastan has a certain ring to it, don’t you think?

  6. Broga says:

Is he serious? Or has he hit the Xmas booze early?

Conservatism in a nutshell: the greater enemy than my wanting to murder you is the government taking your money to feed poor people.

If there was a homosexual running that was a secessionist, I would support him.

Yes, so that you could later elect someone who would satiate your hatred and bloodlust by murdering him.

Bullshit hand-wringing from people who can’t read the damn bible proclaiming he’s No True Christian™ in 3, 2…

  8. barriejohn says:

Hmmm…with all those adulterers being stoned to death there should be plenty of room for expansion in Texas.

No doubt he considers Uganda a limp-wristed, liberal state, as they are only going to imprison homosexuals for life:

    “…is everyone it Texas cracked?”

    Hey! I’m a Texan, and I’m….

Okay, maybe I’m not the best example. ;-)

  10. Matt+Westwood says:

I’m buying shares in the fist-sized stone market. I reckon there’s a market for specially-packaged “Blessed by Angel Gabriel” ones shaped like, um, no I’m not having anyone stealing my ideas.

  11. Trevor Blake says:

“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” Leviticus 20:13

“Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or tittle shall nowise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:18-19

Mr. Kilgore is the staid, normal, Bible-following Christian – those who are neutral or supportive of homosexuality are the extremists who distort the Bible for their own ends. This is why atheists go after the norm, not the outliers, in religion. Because it is religion in itself that is flawed and wicked, not the mis-application of religion.

Swell, just bloody damn swell. Another damn fool Texas sized nut ball crazy moronic piece of bovine excrement.
@sailor1031, I live in central Louisiana, but what the hell, deal away. I can pack what little I own and drive off to some place that has a bit of sanity should this crapola fly.
America, where are you now? Off to the crazy home. The US of A, land of the (not so very) free and the home of the (not at all very) brave. The country of my birth, and still the one I live in, has become a totally full of the most vile of bullshit imaginable. And like a damn fool, I enlisted in and served honorably in the USMC (University of Science, Music, and Culture) for four years. I did a tour in the imperial war in Vietnam and that alone convinced me that; 1) war is THE most pornographic thing we humans have ever invented, 2) that organized religion is THE absolute worst shit we humans have ever invented, 3) most wars have been due to religious “differences”, and 4) there is NO doG and there are plenty of atheists in every goddamn foxhole in every war ever.
Jeebus Christus on a damn bloody crutch! America was a grand experiment in a democratic republic. Well, it sure as hell has gone off track folks. Way the hell OFF track and it pains me to see what has become of the country. Everything I was taught in high school civics has been tossed in the trash. Of course, in the US of A, 2013, one must NEVER mention the truth. Which truth do I refer to? That the real cause of the mess is the class war that has been ongoing since FDR “turned on his own class” and actually did something good for the working class and the poor of this country. Since the new deal, the forces of regressive bullshit artists have been doing all they can to undo every bit of it. The goal, of the elite 1%, the banksters, and Wally Street is, I am convinced, to turn the US of A into a third world country where every working class peon will be more than willing to fight for jobs that pay, at best, a dollar a day. When that is reached, the out-sourced jobs will return to the US of A. But, not until then. For the UK, EU, and any other semi-free nation, beware, they ARE coming for you also. The goal of these 1% is to reduce the entire world to slave status with they alone as masters of the globe and we will be so very glad to be allowed to lick the crumbs that fall from their overly ample dining tables. When we lick their floors with our own tongues and be grateful for the “privilege”, then and only then will the “benevolent” 1% almost feel the least bit happy/vindicated.
Oh, and in my (not at all humble) opinion, old Karl Marx was not radical enough, in fact, I think he was a bit of a chickenshit.
This is NOT at all sarcastic, it DOES represent my own opinion, and, I AM being polite with my language here.

  13. Matt+Westwood says:

@Charlie: Socialism is unfortunately unpopular at the moment. There are national newspapers in the UK which say things like “Marxism is the most evil ideology that came out of the 20th century.” (Despite it was C19 it came out.) On what grounds? “Er, because lots of people lost their lives because of it.” What, and fascism not?

Go on, Texas, go independent. Go on, America, implode. Go on Britain, fall to pieces. Let’s all go to Uruguay.

  14. Cameron Logan says:

Those who want theocracy are trying to create heaven on Earth, but all they end up doing is creating HELL!

  15. JohnMWhite says:

@Trevor Blake – careful now, you’ll end up with Bella or Mary or some other Real Christian™ throwing a tantrum at you daring to point out that the bible says what the bible says.

  16. Robster says:

Kill Gore, sounds like most of that bible thingy.

  17. Matt+Westwood says:

“Those who want theocracy are trying to create heaven on Earth, but all they end up doing is creating HELL!”

No, some of them are deliberately trying to create hell on earth because until that happens their beloved Armageddon won’t happen, at which time God wraps it up and lets all good kissarsetians go to heaven forever. I think it’s called something like immanentising the Eschaton.

  18. andym says:

    @ Barry D. I see you’re a fellow reader of Kurt Vonnegut.

  19. barriejohn says:

How about this for mangled logic then?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-25444631

Interviewed for the January issue of GQ, Robertson said he could not understand why a man would choose to sleep with another man, instead of a woman.

“There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying?” he was quoted as saying. “But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical”.

I’m sure that many Americans are embarrassed by people like that, but really…

  20. JohnMWhite says:

@barriejohn: Did you see his full quote? I note the mysteriously shy BBC have cut off the best part:

“It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

In fact their coverage rather dilutes what he said repeatedly. He didn’t “go on to condemn bestiality”, he instead heavily implied homosexuality leads directly to it:

Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,

I’m not sure if the precious BBC are afraid of the word vagina or are actually trying to give the guy a little cover by massaging and selectively editing his quotes to not appear as bad.

  21. barriejohn says:

Hmmm…perhaps I should have looked at some other sitesbefore posting that link. Obviously, with a woman you get front AND back pussy, so to speak, so you have a bonus. I hadn’t looked at it that way!

  22. JohnMWhite says:

And men sleeping with men leads to men sleeping with this woman and that woman, obviously. I, for one, appreciate this new tip to become a real ladies’ man.

  23. Barry Duke says:

@ Andym: I wondered how long it would take for someone to get my Kilgore Trout reference. Ah, Kurt Vonnegut Jnr, not only an outspoken atheist but to my mind one of the most entertaining writers of the 20th century. I have just acquired all of his books and plays for my e-reader and intend re-reading them all over the next few months.

  24. andym says:

Barry, you’ll enjoy those next few months. I first came across Vonnegut when I found “Cat’s Cradle” in a second-hand bookshop. I can remember laughing out loud when the dictator demanded to be buried according to the rites of Bokonism- a religion he’d deliberately created to save his own arse.

  25. Barry Duke says:

I rather liked Bokononism as it was rather benign, andym:

Bokononism is based on the concept of foma, which are defined as harmless untruths, unlike Islam and Christianity and Judaism, for example, which are based on very harmful untruths.

The foundation of Bokononism is that the religion, including its texts, is formed entirely of lies; however, one who believes and adheres to these lies will have peace of mind, and perhaps live a good life. The primary tenet of Bokononism is to “Live by the foma that make you brave and kind and healthy and happy”.
