JW chef tells customer: ‘Thou shalt not have black pudding’

JW chef tells customer: ‘Thou shalt not have black pudding’

Lunacy reached new heights when a chef working for Sainsbury’s refused to serve a customer with black pudding in the store’s café.

According to this report, Alan MacKay has received an apology from the supermarket giant which confirmed that the chef, employed at its Nottingham café, was a Jehovah’s Witness who would not serve black pudding on religious grounds because it was a “blood product”.

MacKay had popped into the store’s café in Arnold, Nottingham, for breakfast after dropping his wife off at work.

MacKay said he was “really cheesed off” to be told he couldn’t have his breakfast favourite.

According to Ask.com, Jehovah’s Witnesses:

Only have one dietary restriction; they cannot consume blood. They thus cannot eat raw meat, extremely rare meat, or dishes made out of blood products, such as black pudding, blood soup or blood sausage. Aside from that, Jehovah’s Witnesses eat whatever they desire.

Nowhere could I find anything that says cult members cannot refuse to prepare or serve black pudding.

MacKay said he was given a full refund by the store, and that he returned home to make his own breakfast of crumpets, egg and beans.

I know it’s only black pudding but it’s a proper northern British dish. I won’t have people telling me that I can’t have it when I was really looking forward to it. Sainsbury’s employed her as a chef and it was on the menu, you can’t then turn around and say I’m not cooking it for religious reasons. Black pudding is a traditional British thing and I’m fed up of us losing our identity.

A spokeswoman for the company  said there had been a mix-up between the two kitchen staff and another worker had misunderstood the chef who asked them to prepare the black pudding.

Jehovah’s Witnesses were in the news earlier this month when it was reported by JWsurvey that the UK  Court of Appeal had struck down an attempt by the cult to kill off an investigation by the Charity Commission into its handling of child abuse accusations.

The Commission had begun an investigation after reports came to light of a shocking incident in the New Moston Congregation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, where survivors of child sexual abuse were forced to confront their abuser face to face in a closed off religious court.

It was alleged that, far from this being a one-off incident by  a rogue congregation, this in fact reflected the standard practice of all Jehovah’s Witness congregations across the UK, under guidelines handed down and enforced by their parent organisation, The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

Earlier, Lloyd Evans, founder and senior editor of JWsurvey and an activist against cult indoctrination, produced a painstakingly researched documentary about Jehovah’s Witnesses and child abuse that draws together evidence from multiple sources spanning the past twenty five years.

The cults and religion in general are never satisfied to behave as they wish. They insist on forcing others to behave as they do.

The BBC are doing this over Easter by deluging us with religion as if we were all devout Christians. I heard this morning from a vicar that I should be “happy at the wondrous news” that because Jesus rose from the dead, that meant I could also defeat death.

  2. barriejohn says:

I have evangelical friends who won’t go near Black Pudding for much the same reason.

“Therefore it is my judgment that we do not trouble those who are turning to God from among the Gentiles, but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood.” (Acts 15:19-20)

Still, all the more for me!

So hang a black pudding patty from your door knocker and never have JW’s visit you again. The secret is out!

  5. In Food Science, Bulls Blood is a valuable food commodity .
Blood is Spun and Processed and looks like (egg white) and its given a
name ( ? ) Its then added to sugar to make merengue white in baking.
Its also baked into cakes. Christmas Cakes etc. Its also made into
ice-cream and served in hospitals. Bulls Blood is found in many processed foods and given to poorly people to help them get better
    in hospitals including JW.

Lurker: I’ve found that hanging a JW from your door knocker works perfectly well.

I don’t really understand this “can’t eat blood” thing. From the article -“JW only have one dietary restriction; they cannot consume blood. They thus cannot eat raw meat, extremely rare meat,…”.
OK, so they take raw meat and cook it well done. That does’t remove the blood, it just cooks it. So they are then eating cooked blood. How’s that different from black pudding?

    nogbad666,

Don’t try to understand, it’s religion.
Many years ago, as a naive twenty year old, I spent a lot of time attempting to develop a rational discussion with door-knocking JW fuckwits, it was a waste of time.

Find me one example of a religion offering the respect and tolerance it shrieks we give to it. All must bow to every religion, no religion must be made to budge an inch for anyone or anything else.

Religion deserves all the mockery and scorn that can be given it.
