Muslim shopkeeper was killed for ‘disrespecting’ Islam

Tanveer Ahmed, the man accused of murdering Glasgow shopkeeper Asad Shah, above, has issued a statement saying he carried out the killing because he believed Shah had “disrespected” Islam.

Ahmed, 32, from Bradford, is accused of killing Shah outside his shop in Glasgow a fortnight ago.

In the statement he denied the incident had anything to do with Christianity.

Ahmed claimed Asad Shah had “disrespected” Islam by claiming to be a prophet.

Shah, who had moved from Pakistan to Glasgow almost 20 years ago, was found with serious injuries outside his shop on Minard Road in Shawlands on 24 March. He was pronounced dead in hospital.

He was killed just hours after he posted an Easter message on Facebook to his customers.
The message said:

Good Friday and a very happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation.”

During the police investigation officers claimed the incident was “religiously prejudiced” and confirmed both men were Muslims.

Shah was a member of the  Ahmadiyya Muslim sect known for its non-violence and interfaith concerns.

Ahmadiyya are banned by the constitution of Pakistan from referring to themselves as Muslims.

Tanveer Ahmed made no plea during a private court appearance, where he was charged with Shah’s murder.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear at the High Court at a later date.

Ahmed’s  highly unusual statement was made through his lawyer, John Rafferty after his second appearance at court before sheriff Brian Adair.

The statement said:

My client Mr Tanveer Ahmed has specifically instructed me that today, 6 April 2016, to issue this statement to the press, the statement is in the words of my client.

This all happened for one reason and no other issues and no other intentions.

Asad Shah disrespected the messenger of Islam the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. Mr Shah claimed to be a Prophet.

When 1,400 years ago the Prophet of Islam Muhammad peace be upon him has clearly said that ‘I am the final messenger of Allah there is no more prophets or messengers from God Allah after me.

‘I am leaving you the final Quran. There is no changes. It is the final book of Allah and this is the final completion of Islam. There is no more changes to it and no one has the right to claim to be a Prophet or to change the Quran or change Islam.’

It is mentioned in the Quran that there is no doubt in this book no one has the right to disrespect the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and no one has the right to disrespect the Prophet of Islam Muhammad Peace be upon him.

If I had not done this others would and there would have been more killing and violence in the world.

I wish to make it clear that the incident was nothing at all to do with Christianity or any other religious beliefs even although I am a follower of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him I also love and respect Jesus Christ.

Meanwhile, Asian World, in an article highlighting the bitter divisions between the Ahmadiyyas and orthodox Muslims, reported that leading Scottish human rights lawyer Aamer Anwar, above, has received death threats over his calls at Glasgow Central Mosque last week for unity in the Islamic community following the killing of Shah, as well as the terror attacks in Brussels and Lahore.

According to this report, the threats have been made by phone and text. Anwar has also received torrents of abuse on social media, with posters accusing him of waging “a vendetta” and “smear campaign” against the Glasgow Mosque in an attempt to shut it down.

Last month Anwar slammed Habib ur Rehman – one of the most senior figures at the mosque for posting posted messages online praising the  extremist Pakistani murderer Mumtaz Qadri. The killer was executed in February for the assassination of Punjab’s Governor Salman Taseer.

He said:

To describe a convicted terrorist as a ‘true Muslim’ or draw parallels with the ‘French resistance fighting the Nazis’ is grotesque.

There can be no moral or religious justification for remarks which glorify murder.

It is of deep shame that Scotland’s most senior Imam has expresses ‘immense pain’ for the plight of a convicted terrorist, but said nothing about a 71-year-old Mohammed Asghar from Edinburgh on death row for blasphemy or Christians murdered over blasphemy laws.

Every time a terrorist attack happens, the Muslim community is asked to justify our very existence even though we bear no responsibility.

Comments promoting the virtues of twisted psychopaths claiming to act in the name of Allah will only harm our community.

Let’s be clear Mumtaz Qadri was no ‘true Muslim’ or ‘martyr’ and the grotesque views expressed by this Imam must be condemned without compromise.

Later, the mosque issued an apology.

“…Mumtaz Qadri was no ‘true Muslim’…”

    Spoken like a ‘true Scotsman’.

In the meantime, another secular activist has been hacked to death in Bangladesh:

“Asad Shah disrespected the messenger of Islam the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. Mr Shah claimed to be a Prophet.”
From what I have read, there was never any suggestion that the murdered shopkeeper declared himself a prophet. It was only the originator of his sect who did that. So the murderer was not only deranged, he was stupid.

Does any of these dimwitted muslins ever read their book o’BS????
Violence is bad?? Since when?? When these and the xtian moroons remove their hate filled bigotry from their holey books o’BS then I’ll believe they are peaceful!!

“During the police investigation officers claimed the incident was “religiously prejudiced” and confirmed both men were Muslims.”

Any bets that the “religiously prejudiced” claim gets dropped before trial.

Though, of course, there is no need for a trial, he has admitted to the murder.

  5. Broga says:

“Muhammad peace be upon him .” How much time do they waste with this daft and irritating peace be upon him repetition. And where was the peace when this killer murdered a decent, harmless shopkeeper? And then we have all the bollocks about the truth of the Quran?

Ahmed, like so many of his ilk, has a brain shuttered against facts and is consumed by his own sickening certainty about his vicious action being justified by his Book of Holy Fiction. And how old was the wife of his precious prophet? Nine? We can only imagine the horrors of that poor child’s life.

  6. Barty says:

Does anyone realy doubt that islam is the shit stain on the underpants of the world?

Nasty thuggish shitehawk loosers like Tanveer Ahmed act because they listen to the excremental gushings of imams in mosques in towns and cities near you. You know the old adage that you are never more than 10 metrs away from a rat. Well the same idea apply to the mouthpieces os islam. They reside in streets very close to where you are sitting right now. And they tell looser retards like Tanveer Ahmed that they should avenge the insults against islam. It is the imams who need to be rounded up and sorted out. They are the ones spreading the poison that hopeless looser thugs Tanveer Ahmeds lap up. Time to change the law to bang up and deport hate preaching islamic clerics. They are the ones with blood on their hands.

  7. Bob says:

I am pleased that Tanveer Ahmed was taken alive. Normally, these people die when carrying out violent acts, but Mr Ahmed was arrested which means there is an opportunity for him to come to know the Lord Jesus as his personal Saviour.

If he does truly repent and accept Christ then he will be right with God, and have assurance of Heaven for all eternity.

  8. Broga says:

@Bob: That is great news. The good news you might say. What he needs is someone such as yourself to get up to Scotland to convert him. Do let us know how you get on.

  9. CoastalMaineBird says:

@Bob: But he already has assurance of heaven for all eternity!

    Hint: he doesn’t need you.

  10. Newspaniard says:

Habib Ur-Rahman needs to be deported for praising a murderer as “a true muslim”. The “apology” will be the usual, crossed fingers behind the back, taqiyya. Time to start closing a few mosques. I do hope that Tanveer Ahmed gets a “full life” sentence since he deserves nothing less. Of course that sentence maybe is what he was wishing for all the time… full bed and board for the rest of his natural life in the company of many of his fellow fundies. Come to think about it, a Pakistani prison would be a more meaningful sentence.

  11. Newspaniard says:

P.S. perhaps a prisoner exchange could be arranged after he had completed, say, 5 years in a UK prison and become comfortable with his colour TV, gym etc, etc…

  12. Stephen Mynett says:

Not sure about the prisoner exchange, just as likely Pakistan would pardon him and offer him a government post, probably as human rights adviser.

  13. Trevor blake says:

It is a comfort that among the tens of thousands of Muslims illegally pouring into Europe not a single one of them shares the views of Mr. Ahmed. By violating the borders they magically become well versed and beholden to democracy, pluralism, and secular morals.

That, or due to the fear of being called a critic of a bronze-age superstition invented by murderous horse thieves and child rapists, Europe has shown a soft belly to a culture that seeks only to drag the world into a living hell.

Which do you think it might be? I for one know I risk death by criticizing religions, but I will speak freely while I may.

  14. Daz says:

    Bob

That the likes of you and Tanveer Ahmed might see Heaven, merely for “knowing Jesus,” while people such as Asad Shah, who actually do some good in the world, would be punished, is proof that, if it existed, that god of yours would be nothing but a petulant, self-absorbed brat.

  15. Broga says:

@Daz: It is beyond my understanding to see how even the most blinkered Christian could look at the vast suffering in the world and think that this is under the control of a loving God. How do they reconcile the suffering with their beliefs?

Apart from the lust for slaughter and delight in torture of humans there is so much else. The lion can only live by feasting on the still alive body of the its prey; insects eat the live bodies of their hosts; the hawk kills as it swoops on its prey.

On the last example we have a large barn. A few years ago a bird of prey, possibly a Sparrow Hawk, went in and slaughtered all the nesting wild birds in there. The blood and feathers were everywhere.

  16. Barty says:

    … killed for ‘disrespecting’ islam…

Well thats nothing compared to my utter comtempt for it.

  17. John the Drunkard says:

The Ahmadis, like the Bahai, are relentlessly oppressed by the feuding tribes of ‘Twue Muswims.’

Just about all muslim sub-groups concur that Mohammed was the Last Prophet, and (with waffling to include whichever Hadith they like) the Quran was the Last Book.

Virtually any prominent Muslim is at risk of being called a false prophet. Actual ‘spiritual leaders’ are at huge risk. Especially from Wahhabis, who assume the right of policing other Muslims by violence.

  18. barfly says:

The religion of peace as once again shown itself in its true colours that of blood red. I see Bob as popped up perhaps we could arrange for him to meet Tanveer and watch the sparks fly

  19. Vanity Unfair says:

Just for clarification: was Mohammed circumscribing JHWH/Allah by claiming to be the ultimate prophet with the ultimate message, or was JHWH/Allah circumscribing its own influence in the full knowledge that there would be no further scientific, technological nor social changes in the world before the imminent apocalypse?
Either way, there are important consequences to consider.

  20. Edwin Salter says:

Presumably the statement issued is intended to reassure all us Christian Brits. O why do I feel some alarm knowing that Mr. Ahmad respects Jesus?
The illiterate preamble sentence suggests his lawyer also suffers disquiet. But, of course, if we can be promised that the slaughter is confined to people who say they are Muslims, obviously all’s okay.

  21. barriejohn says:

A Facebook page has been set up praising the murdering bastard, but not all the comments are positive, as you can imagine!

A few pointed remarks (to say the least) have been left on his own page as well (qv).
