UK Muslim apostate and his family forced to flee his home

UK Muslim apostate and his family forced to flee his home

Last year, Bradford resident Nissar Hussain, above, was hospitalised after apparently being attacked for apostasy.

Hussain, who had converted to Christianity 20 years ago, claimed in this report that local Muslim extremists escalated harrassment against him and his family after he appeared on a Channel 4 documentary about the mistreatment of Muslim converts.

The  father-of-six has now been forced to flee his home under police guard and the Hussains have been relocated to a safe house.

Hussain was targeted last year by two men, armed with a pick-axe, and he suffered a smashed kneecap. He said:

My family are distraught and extremely traumatised to be leaving. But when your life is at stake there is no other choice.

He blames sections of the Islamic community.

This extreme persecution by certain people in the Muslim community because we are converts has broken us as a family.

Hussain, who was a nurse before leaving work due to post-traumatic stress disorder, says his children, aged eight to 24, and wife would never see their friends again.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said hate crime would not be tolerated and officers had been working with the family.

He said:

Our priority has always been to work effectively with our partners to minimise the risk to Mr Hussain and ensure that we maximise opportunities to put control measures in place to safeguard him, his family and consider any wider impact upon the communities across West Yorkshire.

We are disappointed that Mr Hussain and his family have decided to leave Bradford, particularly as police and partners have been working together for some time to try and resolve the situation to the benefit of all parties concerned.

The spokesman continued:

Police and partners would like to stress that there are a number of other people living in the Bradford district who have not experienced any issues based on their faith, conversion to another faith or choosing not to have a faith.

Under no circumstances will hate crime be tolerated.

  1. This type of event will probably become much more common in the future, and one day will no longer be illegal. On the contrary, it will be approved of. Oh well, it’s all too late now. The damage is done. Que será será. Whatever will be will be. The future’s not ours to see. Que será será.

  2. Cali Ron says:

“…resolve the situation to the benefit of all parties concerned. ” The only party that should matter is the victims. The other party would be his attackers who should be prosecuted and should definitely not benefit from it. Where are the police ‘ s priorities?

  3. 1859 says:

@Cali Ron: Agreed. The man’s been viciously attacked and his family harassed. The ‘party concerned’ should be hunted, caught and charged with GBH regardless of their ‘reasons’.

  4. Trevor Blake says:

Maybe appeasement to Muslim demands will work. That hasn’t been tried yet, ever, at all, not even once, in any respect, anywhere. Let’s try much more appeasement and much more importing of Muslims to non-Muslim nations. I think that will work. It must work, our leaders all say it will.

Nah. Pointed, informed, mean-spirited atheist refusal to appease Muslims (and all religions) wins, sometimes. Nothing else.

  5. Michael Glass says:

Publicity such as this is shredding the name of Islam. Every outrage that is reported weakens the thugs and the bigots.

Keep calling out every outrage of religion, any religion. It is the one thing that can turn the tiger of religious hatred into the pussycat of religion-lite.

  6. Rocky says:

What a great god allah is if it needs thugs to go around beating people up to keep everyone in line. Without this almost inevitable use extreme of extreme violence I think a very large proportion of muslims would happily throw off the very heavy and destructive burdens of islamic dogma. And like rats, muslims willing to wantonly maim and murder, live very close to where you are. Very close. Next time you are in a taxi consider this … there is a good chance that the driver is one of those who is willing to use extreme violence against anyone who rejects islam.

An adherent of the “religion of peace” threw a Molotov cocktail at a church on Borneo island, Indonesia. Intan Olivia Marbun, a two-year-old girl who was in the church at the time along with a group of 2-4 year-olds, died from the burns inflicted.

And why again we are supposed to be tolerant of their intolerance?

  8. Har Davids says:

I wonder how many people who convert to Islam are being attacked by their relatives and friends?

  9. Great Satan says:

The rest of the community who tacitly or openly support this islamic thuggery should be deported to their country of origin,

    I’m sure you’re right:

More recent reports have spoken of women queuing up to join the police force, inspired by the women soldiers who liberated them. Maybe there is some hope after all.

  11. Paul says:

If any religion is so powerful with such powerful gawds, and they all seem to have these, yet they are all so utterly powerless, why are these religions having death or wounding etc as a sanction for ‘leaving’?

I wonder why they are so blind they cannot see how there cannot be a gawd at all.

The mealy-mouthed tosser is presumably too stupid to notice the contradiction.

On the wider issue, the ITV documentary a few weeks ago estimated millions of hidden atheists in the “muslim”
world. It’s not just violence, it’s social pressure. Many ex-Christians would attend church up probably until the 50’s and 60’s because it was just too much hassle to declare disbelief. Shake the vicar’s hand, praise the sermon without believing a word of either your own or his . Obviously the threat and actual violence make this harder, but you can only stop a tide for so long.

  13. Cali Ron says:

When your culture has been based on a dogmatic and violent religion for hundreds of years it is not only difficult to leave because you are ostracized by everyone you know and love ,it can also be deadly. Western nations can attack these countries and remove their leaders, but the oppressed will not be free until the they rise up against their oppressors and throw off the shackles of religion. We must educate and empower them to revolt. Denigrating them for being oppressed is a pointless exercise in semantics..

  14. Many atheists are far too optimistic for their own good. Religious belief is on the rise in western Europe, and because of this atheism will before too long enter a period of swift and steep decline. Here’s a prediction: Severe anti-blasphemy laws will be promulgated 50-100 years from now, and the general public, the vast majority of whom will be religious believers, especially of the Islamic variety, will approve.

  15. Brian Jordan says:

Miss FR: now who’s being optimistic? 5-10 years is more likely. There will be no waiting for a consensus.
