Gay man finds God; goes on the rampage against LGBT people

Gay man finds God; goes on the rampage against LGBT people

At the end of July this year, a delightful short animated film about a young lad losing his heart to a another boy was posted on YouTube – and immediately became an international hit.

Since July 31, In a Heartbeat has attracted over 21,000,000 views – and a scathing attacking from Doug Mainwaring, above, a Christian who is married to a woman and vehemently opposes same-sex marriage.

Writing for the ultra-right-wing Life Site News, Mainwaring  said that the LGBT Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and others are showering it with praise, adding:

Don’t be fooled. While many inside and outside the gay world may find it heart-warming, resonating with their own inner-awkward-middle-school-boy, there’s a problem with it. A big problem.

In a Heartbeat is getting a whole lot of attention but will do a disservice to those it aims to help. It will further undermine strong, healthy – extraordinarily necessary – male adolescent relationships.

Once boys and adolescents are herded toward gayness in order to deal with the very common experience of social anxiety, directed to question their sexual orientation, their sexuality risks becoming ‘re-wired.’ And once ‘re-wired’ in that way, it’s hard to undo. I should know. I was one of them.

Branding the film “a dangerous distortion”, Mainwaring insists that the red-haired boy is not romantically attracted to the second boy, although that’s what the movie’s creators want you to think.

He’s attracted to a boy who is his opposite, self-confident and trouble-free. The movie’s creators misinterpret their own character: He’s not ‘closeted’ and he’s not “outed” by his own heart.’ He simply experiences a very high degree of social anxiety.

After much hysterical blather, and a quote from Michael Glatze, another self-loathing homosexual who got so badly bitten by the Jesus bug that he’s now a pastor, Mainwaring says:

One senses the snickering of Satan somewhere in the wings behind the hopeless, discouragement-fraught dreams of many gay men. No wonder so many become depressed. This is also why same-sex marriage will evaporate over time …

The world today, influenced heavily by the LGBT community and an undiscerning media, undermines close relationships between adolescent males, causing them to question their romantic and sexual orientation. This is precisely what this video sets out to do and is why it is so dangerous.

Can’t a kid just really like another kid without it being interpreted as either romantic or sexual? ALL boys want close friendships with other boys. It’s a basic human need.

“Thankfully, our marriage has been very happily restored for more than five years now.” Oh yeh? Happy for Doug as he has a marriage that fits his religion driven requirement for marriage. What about his wife? Where does sex figure in this “happily restored” marriage?

You can’t defeat nature. Something repressed and twisted must be at the core of that relationship unless, perhaps, they both have minimal sexual needs. Doug may be happy going through the motions of a married relationship but that is a poor substitute for a mature, fulfilling relationship.

I wouldn’t be surprised to hear he has a secret gay lover. It seems like the evangelicals who vehemently attack gays are the most likely to be one hiding in the closet. Trying to reconcile reality with religious dogma is a hopeless endeavor.

Doug Mainwaring is a journalist for LifeSiteNews, an author, and a marriage, family and children’s rights activist.

    Totally beyond parody.

Cali Ron: How long before he’s caught using the services of a rent boy, I wonder?

One can only imagine what Mainwaring’s approach would have been, and the potential harm that it would have done. (“Don’t panic Mr Mainwaring! Don’t panic!”)

Funnily enough, I was reading this only recently:

I was tempted to ask what the response of people like Mainwaring would be, but I know full well from experience, as they have a “neat” answer to everything. They would just shrug their shoulders and say: “It’s the result of the Fall.” Fundamentalists never deal with reality; they can’t.

I’m not usually one to say something like this but doesn’t Mainwaring have that smug self-rightous face that you would love to punch?

  14. Broga says:

barriejohn: The article does provide a new (for me, anyway) and exciting phrase in the fight of Christians against gays, atheists, muslims etc. The Christian fighting the good fight is a Prayer Warrior.

I watched part of a TV programme yesterday evening (still to view the rest) about homophobia in football. An MP asked why football, with no outed gay players, still refused to accept civilised behaviour and remains sunk in a vicious past.

Justin Fashanu was a brilliant footballer who was gay and he was provoked into suicide. His sister thought part of the explanation was the stupidity and ignorance of football crowds. She thought Rugby and Cricket had more intelligent crowds. A gay Rugby referee said he had no problems refereeing at the top level.

A major problem in football is what goes on in the dressing rooms. What would help would be for a top player to come out.

Glatze, after finding religion, wrote an article for World Nut Daily entitled “How a ‘gay rights’ leader became straight”.
I tried to access it as I am writing a feature article about Mainwaring and Glatze for The Pink Humanist, but it has been binned.

I did find this WND piece rather amusing.

I believe that all people, intrinsically, know the truth. I believe that is why Christianity scares people so much. It reminds them of their conscience, which we all possess.

Conscience tells us right from wrong and is a guide by which we can grow and become stronger and freer human beings. Healing from sin and ignorance is always possible, but the first thing anyone must do is get out of the mentalities that divide and conquer humanity.

Sexual truth can be found, provided we’re all willing and driven to accept that our culture sanctions behaviors that harm life. Guilt should be no reason to avoid the difficult questions.

Homosexuality took almost 16 years of my life and compromised them with one lie or another, perpetuated through national media targeted at children. In European countries, homosexuality is considered so normal that grade-school children are being provided “gay” children’s books as required reading in public schools.

Poland, a country all-too familiar with the destruction of its people by outside influences, is bravely attempting to stop the European Union from indoctrinating its children with homosexual propaganda. In response, the European Union has called the prime minister of Poland “repulsive.”

I was repulsive for quite some time; I am still dealing with all of my guilt.

As a leader in the “gay rights” movement, I was given the opportunity to address the public many times. If I could take back some of the things I said, I would. Now I know that homosexuality is lust and pornography wrapped into one. I’ll never let anybody try to convince me otherwise, no matter how slick their tongues or how sad their story. I have seen it. I know the truth.

What “truth” does he know now?

  21. Barry Duke says:

Oooh, what a clever clogs you are, BarrieJohn! That’s the one I was trying to find. I am pleased he now appears to have come to back his senses.

Incidentally, I thought Christian commentators would be filled with glee over I am Michael, the movie that chronicles Gratze’s descent into godliness, but it seems that many could not bring themselves to recommend it because of the icky gay sex scenes it contains.

  22. barriejohn says:

Barry: I found it amongst the links on Wikipedia, but you had to avoid the obvious link!

A short film titled “Michael Lost and Found” will soon follow “I Am Michael” and show Glatze’s life as it is today. The second film is reportedly going to be “part response, part clarification, part apology, part redemption,” as stated on Facebook.

Well – THAT should be interesting.

But doesn’t human nature is so messed up that it cannot achieve by itself to comes to God?

“Praise God. He is cured. Twas surely a miracle.

Or maybe the lovely couple have a bisexual middleman to fulfil all their needs “

Or we could take up Ockham’s razor, and note that he himself would appear to be bisexual, having experienced both same-sex and opposite-sex attraction.

  25. Michael Glatze Truth says:

Glatze also said this while being interviewed by a religious Eastern European website:

” I am just one of millions who has stopped being homosexual, and become heterosexual.
The sick irony is that many people have absolutely no problems when someone goes from “straight” to “gay,” suggesting that the person had a latent homosexuality that was just waiting to “come out!” But, what about the possibility that nobody has a latent sexuality that is anything other than the freedom to choose? Homosexuality is a choice, not a born identity. It may develop – those same-sex desires – in people for various reasons, but rather than focus on the reasons for same-sex desire, it’s far more important to focus on the reality of choosing homosexuality, and the ramifications for society as well as the individual soul’s relationship with God.
Those who claim they can’t imagine a person leaving homosexuality are trapped in a mindset that – at its root – doubts Christ’s ability to overcome. A person trapped in another sinful addiction will never be told, by any good-hearted person, that he can’t possibly quit, so he should never try! But, seemingly “virtuous” people actually SAY that to friends and family members, with regards to homosexuality!? People who take the side of evil will INEVITABLY take the side AGAINST that which is good. This is a major sin; and, honestly, anyone who doubts the truth needs to seriously spend some time in prayer with God, before opening their mouths again and pushing people much further into bondage. Christ is liberty; it is up to Christians to get all of our arrogant assumptions and misconceptions out of the way, and let Christ free the trapped souls.
I don’t have much patience for Christians who pretend they are “concerned” about this issue, but doubt God’s truth – acting as though they, somehow, are more intelligent than God. Those people have issues.”

[On those who can’t “pray away the gay” even after years or fall back]

“People spend too much time doubting the power of Christ, and living – instead – an entirely grace-less, self-indulgent life. The truth of the gospel is that Christ’s life actually comes to life within your body, and you are no longer alive – you have been made dead in Him. So, there is nothing to complain about, if the God who created the universe and loved us enough to send His Son to become sin on our behalf, dwells in our very body!
Sure, life has its challenges; but, there is not a man or woman on earth who does not have challenges in life! People need to rise up out of their victim-mentality, their supreme self-indulgence, and let Christ have the pre-eminence in their lives. Only then will they be filled with the “fullness of joy” of glorifying God with every “word and deed,” and they will love their lives in Christ so much, no matter where He takes them.
So, I reject the victimhood approach. If I were to say that a person who struggles with homosexual temptations were any different than a person who struggles with other temptations, I would be only observing one – selected – portion of reality, rather than the whole thing. And, in that unity of mankind, Christ understands what we’re all going through, because he was in all ways tempted just as we are, but without sin. Thus, he can succor those of us that suffer – WHICH IS ALL OF US! It’s about how you view your walk through life. If it’s all about you, you, you, you’re probably going to whine and complain a lot – ultimately, directly rebelling against God, doubting His Goodness, and suggesting He isn’t powerful enough for you! But, if you submit – recognize, as a Christian you’re dead in Christ… essentially “get over yourself,” – you will find the true liberty in the grace of God, which will take you through some remarkable places, including deliverance from sins and a far better life lived for the true glory of the living God. But, don’t take my word for it – or, you’re bound to just think I’m an opinionated man with no compassion. Study the Bible. Get to know God yourself. It’s your choice.
Many people fail because a part of them would rather wallow in despair than accept the fullness of God’s grace. It is a subtle form of pride; no surprise full healing can’t happen amidst that kind of a spiritual condition!!! ”

  26. Michael Glatze Truth says:

And this is a comment from someone who claims to have contacted Glatze. He is another self-proclaimed “ex-homosexual” Christian named James Hartline, so take it with a grain of salt:

“As I learned very quickly early on in my correspondences with Michael Glatze, I cannot get along with a person who is all over the map in his theology and his approach to Christianity. Mr. Glatze simply wants a microphone and wants the floor even when he isn’t qualified to be speaking on a topic. His form of Christianity is a patchwork quilt of superficial ideas that he collects in the same fashion as an antique dealer collects old trinkets. Once he has collected a few trinkets he self-declares himself an expert on that trinket collection without the benefit of having any serious, deep education on the history and the meaning and historical significance of said trinkets.

In the short time that Glatze has been a self-declared ex-gay Christian he has short-circuited paying the dues that any reputable Christian pastor or evangelist has had to pay, to sacrifice and to suffer, to earn the right to be a God-ordained minister. This is in large part due to the corrupt and media-money-hungry pro-family ministries that are constantly in search of a token ex-gay personality that they can use, abuse and wave vindicatively at the equally corrupt and media-money-hungry radicalized gay political machine that drives the core engine of America’s cultural homosexual movement. Without even considering his lack of dedication to Jesus Christ or the fact that he had zero examples of sacrificing his life for Christianity, the pro-family hucksters baptized Mr. Glatze as their latest professional ex-gay token. It is one more reason why I, as a former homosexual who has been faithfully and very publicly serving Christ inside of one of the largest homosexual communities in the United States for 20 years, cannot be involved in most of the so-called professional pro-family organizational groups. They reek with corruption, superficiality, insincerity, greed and hypocrisy. Which is explains why they all so easily made so many backroom deals with demonic Donald Trump.

Michael Glatze has gone from Mormonism to Catholicism to implied Buddhism and now the inevitable appeasement and apology tourism that is the infamous trademark of the professional ex-gay movement. The professional ex-gay movement is so utterly superificial in its relationship with Christ and it is their rejection of Christ’s mandate for all Christ-followers to willingly suffer and embrace sacrificial self-denial that defines the never ending hypocrisy of the likes of Alan Chambers, Randy Thomas, John Paulk and now Michael Glatze. They all have one thing in common: the refusal to pick up one’s cross to follow Christ. The narcissism and the sinful, selfish desire to serve and worship self which is at the core of homosexuality and the gay political movement is simply tranferred into the professional ex-gay movement leaders’ lives and therein lies their complete failure to change the culture and to win converts out of homosexuality to follow Christ.

I attempted to warn Michael Glatze that he was making seriously flawed theological decisions and his beliefs were not sound Biblical ones. He wouldn’t listen. All he wanted to do was “school me” on Christianity and preach at me. I have been following the Lord for decades. My testimony as an ex-homosexual for 20 years who is battling a very famous scientific case of AIDS all the while living – not in some “safe” insulated little conservative town in Wyoming – but inside of the 4th largest gay community in America, has been broadcast all over the world and shared on many TV and news programs including the 700 Club, newspapers, radio show and magazines. I have written hundreds of articles and produced over 60,000 photographs and 400 videos of my life as a born again Christian ex-homosexual living inside of the gay community. Thousands upon thousands of gays see me everyday and how I live my life as a Christian ex-homosexual, and not one of them can ever say they have witnessed me returning to homosexuality. Yet, in all of my communications with Mr. Glatze, he wanted to teach me what Christianity is and isn’t, he wanted to instruct me on “correct” theology. He had no real desire to actually listen or learn from my mistakes, my experiences or my knowledge of God and the Bible. The reality is, he just wants to be the boss, the show and time will eventually unveil a Michael Glatze who never really humbled himself and had a true born again Christian experience. Rather, he simply mutated and adapted to his circumstances in a manner that accomodated his pursuit of self-comfortability – something that seems be disasterously innate in both the professional ex-gay movement and the radicalized gay political movement.”

  27. Cali Ron says:

I am shocked!. Not by the story, but because in reading the article and other links in it I didn’t see the word bestiality or pedophilia once. It is rare in America for the evangelicals to talk about homosexuality without claiming it leads to bestiality and pedophilia, even though there is not a shred of evidence to support such statements. Of course, evangelicals never require ‘evidence’ since it almost always runs contrary to what they believe, do and say. Conversion therapy being a perfect example.

  28. Broga says:

” Study the Bible”, read it with care and you are on the path to atheism.

They do take a lot of words to say what they are trying to say. I wonder why that is?

  29. Barry Duke says:

Oh my giddy aunt, MTG! What a can of worms I opened when I touched on Glatze!

  30. barriejohn says:

I think Barry has enough reading material for the time being!

Cali Ron: You didn’t look far on the AFTAH site then, as they have multiple articles linking homosexuality to paedophilia, pederasty and bestiality. Truth my arse!

  31. Broga says:

Barry: I decided to click on one of these and the first sentence I read was: “Those who seek to provide some kind of intellectual “nuance” to the Gospel will, inevitably, engage in the sin of Pride.”

I take this to mean that the reader of the bible must not think about and analyse what they are reading. This is the only defence these intellectually dishonest Christians have. Enough. I’ll read my book instead.

  32. Cali Ron says:

barriejohn: OK, busted, I didn’t bother with that one, but I did look at most of the links. There were quite a few in this thread. I only read the last link from Michael Glatze Truth’s comment with all the links. I now know all I need to about this sad man and his twisted, guilt filled journey trying to find peace through religion which used him to further their anti-gay agenda. He will never know peace until he comes to terms with himself.

  34. Rusty Writer says:

Doug Mainwaring lived very near to Michael Glatze in Wyoming, not too far from where Matthew Shepard was hung on a fence to die. Glatze could not take the ex-gay scam anymore, and in June, 2016 he quit his pastor life so quickly he did not know where he was going, but he ended up back in San Francisco in walking distance to gay bars and baths. He began using his middle name, Elliott, as if was his last name and he wrote scathing attacks against evangelicals like he used to do against LGBT people. Michael Elliott (Glatze) now admits he is bisexual. Can Mainwaring be far behind? He is obsessed with man on man sex.
