Virginia’s ‘chief homophobe’ ousted by trangender woman

A significant blow against bigotry occurred yesterday when a devout Catholic, Bob G Marshall, who described himself as Virginia’s ‘chief homophobe’, lost his seat in the House of Delegates to Democrat Danica Roem, a 33-year-old former local news reporter who is openly transgender.

Cosmopolitan reports that she soundly defeated 25-year incumbent Republican, “a social conservative who frequently tried to use her gender identity against her throughout the campaign, even misgendering her at times.”

Her win in the 13th district, in northern Virginia, is a significant rebuke to the Trump administration’s hostility toward the transgender community. When she is sworn in, in January, she’ll become the first transgender person elected and seated to a state legislature, claiming victory in a House of Delegates race that attracted national media attention.

Back in 2006, The Washington Post, reporting on Marshall war on gay marriage, wrote:

For nearly 15 years, Marshall, one of the conservative state’s most conservative lawmakers, has been wielding a heavy stick marked with his brand of moral and religious certainty. With the values he learned in a staunchly Catholic household, mixed with years of work as a legislative researcher on Capitol Hill and the pugnacious spirit of the amateur judo combatant he once was, he has become one of the leading voices in Virginia’s conservative movement.

Ahead of his defeat, Marshall, speaking on Bryan Fischer’s American Family Radio, asked listeners to pray for his victory. Fischer then led his audience in prayer that God:

Would bring confusion into the camp of those who oppose the truth that Delegate Marshall is seeking to promote and to defend.

Dirty tricks come easily to bible thumping bigots. They think they are entitled to use any means to further the cause of their supposedly righteous religion.

Nice to see American voters waking up and turning on the vile bigots who, given the green light by Trump, want to make hatred mainstream. Get back under that stone, you contemptible retards!

Well done Danica! Your victory is not just for the liberal-minded, democratic people of the USA, but it is also a force that is helping to push back the religious darkness and bigotry that has gripped man/womankind for centuries. Never underestimate what you can achieve – best of luck.

Another glorious example, more obvious proof of the famous futility and proven failure of prayer! You could perhaps expect after a couple of millennia of constant prayer failure, those that advocate it as an answer, may seek answers elsewhere.

For one brief moment there I thought that the headline said “outed”. Well – one can only hope!
