What on earth was this German TV channel thinking?

According to a Twitter post:

It was shown on Lindenstrasse, Sunday evening soap on Das Erste. Very mainstream. Every household in Germany pays for this state funded dreck, as I suspect you know …

Hm I presume that this conversion didn’t come out of the blue, has she acquired a new Muslim boyfriend? It could lead to an interesting plot development if he ( new bf) becomes more controlling, on the other hand if the little boy susses out that mum is now a second class citizen she might get some grief. I would guess that whatever happens her future will be bleak.

Without the context of the show’s wider plot I have absolutely no idea whatsoever what point that scene is trying to get across. I’m guessing from the ‘blah, blah, blah’ bits that it’s attempting to be disparaging to islam and muslims, but it is so badly written and acted I could be completely wrong. Bewildering nonsense which by comparison no doubt makes East Enders look like a Shakespearian tragedy. (BTW I have never watched a single episode of East Enders in my life – but I kind of understand where it’s coming because it’s almost impossible to avoid the endless trailers for it. Lots of shouting, threats, violence and general unhappiness. No wonder so many people love it!)

I don’t think a current TV audience has the sustained capacity for sarcasm to get that meaning from this awful clip.

Every child is Muslim? But she isn’t, until she takes the Shahada in front of her child?

And, of course, Mohamed was proudly illiterate and wrote down nothing at all.
