Freethought for the week

Dear reader,

This week we have an article on free speech by Stephen Evans of the National Secular Society, and one on the Pope's apology for Canada's residential schools by Ray Argyle. We also introduce our new satirical column, 'You'd Better Believe It', featuring an exclusive interview with the Son of God.

New this week
- Secularism and the Struggle for Free Speech, by Stephen Evans
- Cruci-Fiction, by Modus Tollens, with cartoon by Paul Fitzgerald
- The Pope's Apology, by Ray Argyle

Coming up next week
- Faith Watch: round-up of the latest religious shenanigans
- A potted history of the Freethinker
...and more.

Freethought in crisis: update
Humanist Mubarak Bala, whose detention in northern Nigeria we wrote about in March, has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for blasphemy by the Kano State High Court.

I'll be writing again next Friday. As always, if you like what we do, please spread the word, and let us know if you have any questions or comments.

Best wishes,

Emma Park
